The Pace of Play

As expected, play has slowed to a crawl here as we approach the money bubble. There are remarkably few contested pots being played right now, and even fewer multi-way pots. The vast majority of the hands are being taken down with a single preflop raise or reraise, or a single continuation bet.

The floodgates should open once again when we cross into the money.

Lee Leaves

Kwang Lee raised to 24,000 from the small blind, and Isaac Haxton re-potted it from the big. Lee made the call, committing the rest of his own chips to the pot. He turned over {A-Spades} {4-Clubs}, racing against Haxton's {2-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}.

The board was a big dry desert: {Q-Spades} {6-Hearts} {7-Spades} {3-Hearts} {K-Clubs}. Failing to make a pair or fill in his turned straight draw, Lee has been sent to the rail.

Haxton, on the other hand, is still right up near the top, working with 525,000 chips.

Lester Strikes Out Rafalowicz

In early position, Jeremy Rafalowicz came in with a raise to 20,000. All the way around in the small blind, Jason Lester made the call to see a flop.

It showed up {10-Spades} {J-Clubs} {K-Clubs}, and both men checked. The turn brought the {4-Hearts} and all of the action. Lester checked, and Rafalowicz bet 27,000. Lester then made it 77,000 and Rafalowicz moved all in for a total of 138,000. Lester quickly called.

Rafalowicz turned over {A-Spades} {K-Spades}, but Lester had him dead to a chop with the {A-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} for Broadway. The river was a meaningless {A-Diamonds}, and that's the end of Rafalowicz's tournament. Lester is up to 327,000.

Rousso Hits Boat On River

Vanessa Rousso
Vanessa Rousso
Mike Kamran raised to 20,000 from under the gun. Bryn Kenney called from middle position as did Vanessa Rousso from the big blind.

The flop came {9-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {8-Spades} and Rousso lead out for 50,000. Kamran smooth called and Kenney got out of the way.

The turn was the {2-Spades} and both players checked.

The river brought the {10-Spades} and Rousso made a large bet of 100,000. Kamran made the call.

Rousso showed {10-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}, hitting her full house on the river. Kamran didn't show his cards, but instead angirly slamed his holding into the muck.

Vanessa Rousso - 465,000
Mike Kamran - 105,000

Kamran Good

Frank Kassela - Out
Frank Kassela - Out
Michael Kamran opened with a raise to 20,000 under the gun. Action passed around to the button, where Frank Kassela reraised to 70,000. Kamran moved all in and Kassela called all in for his own tournament life.

Showdown
Kamran: {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades}
Kassela: {10-Spades} {10-Hearts}

The news was not good for Kassela, and a dry flop of {4-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {K-Hearts} left him drawing to a third ten. The {K-Diamonds} on the turn was no help, and the river {3-Diamonds} was not a ten either. Failing to improve, Kassela has been sent home.

Kamran - 340,000

Luke Staudenmaier Doubles Up

Luke Staudenmaier raised to 27,000 from middle position and Jeremy Rafalowicz smooth called from late position.

The flop came {10-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {2-Clubs} and Staudenmaier moved all in for 45,000. Rafalowicz called.

Staudenmaier: {10-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}
Rafalowicz: {K-Spades} {K-Hearts}

The board ran out {10-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {7-Spades} {9-Diamonds} to allow Staudenmaier to double up with his set.

Staudenmaier - 160,000
Rafalowicz - 115,000
