Phillips Eliminated As Boeree Near Triples

Our PokerNews reporter walked over to see that Dennis Phillips and his once occupied seat was now . . . empty.

Looking round at the table it was apparent that Liv Boeree had chipped up and consequently our reporter asked her of what had happened to Phillips.

Boeree explained that she opened under the gun with {Q-}{Q-} and was reraised next to speak by a player holding {K-}{K-}. With the action on Phillips, he moved all in for not much more also holding {K-}{K-}. Once it was back on Boeree she shipped it all in over the top to find a call to see both her and Phillips at risk.

Just one Queen on the flop would be all Boeree needed, and as she finished explaining the hand she commented, "poker is an easy game, just get it in bad and you win"

If you think Liv Boeree can only knock out her opponents on the felt - you should be sure to check out her moves in the ring.

Coming up in a few short days, Boeree will be taking on PokerNews TV Host Melissa Castello in a girl-on-girl boxing match not to be missed!

For the details, check out the video here.

Who's Grinding A Small Profit?

Clark Hamagami - looking for his sixth cash for the series
Clark Hamagami - looking for his sixth cash for the series
With players starting with only 4,500 in chips, its hard to get some momentum early.

The key however is slowly grinding away, taking a pot down here and there; and so far the following players have built their stacks to a somewhat solid position.

Jeff Madsen - 5,800
Mark Seif - 5,600
Jonathan Little - 5,400
Hevad Khan - 5,200

They may have arrived late, but Clark Hamagami (8,400), Phil Hellmuth (7,800) and Alexander Kostritsyn (7,700) have all near doubled as we tick into the eightieth minute of play.

Tilly Takes Some of Flack

Across the room, Jennifer Tilly and Layne Flack were chatting about Italian food when they started tangling in a pot.

Flack made it 325 to go from early position and Tilly called from the hijack, bringing a flop of {4-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. Flack bet 600 and Tilly called.

The {J-Hearts} on the turn brought a 1,000 bet from Flack, and another call from Tilly. Both players checked the {10-Diamonds} on the river, before Flack announced "Two pair" and showed {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. Tilly tabled {A-Hearts}{J-Spades} for a better two pair, and took the pot. She has about 8,000 while Flack is down to 1,700.

Phil Laak Chips Up

Phil Laak made it 125 to go from middle position and got called by both blinds.

The table then checked down a board that came {7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Laak turned over {Q-Spades}{6-Diamonds} for a winning pair of sixes. He's got a stack of abut 5,900.

Hellmuth Arrives

The 'PokerBrat' Arrives
The 'PokerBrat' Arrives
Always one for late arrivals, Phil Hellmuth has just strolled into the Amazon Room.

He went round and shook every player's hand before sitting down to play his hand.

Hellmuth limped under the gun, the button and the blinds came along, and a bet of 75 on the flop of {K-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{9-Spades} was enough to take the pot down.

Mizzi Eliminated

Early casualty
Early casualty
Sorel Mizzi was recently left crippled when Jim Pechac flopped a set of jacks on Mizzi's ace-king.

With only a few hundred chips, Mizzi found a worthy recipient and was on the rail.

David Singer Takes an Early Pot

In a three-way limped pot, the players saw a flop of {9-Spades}{Q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. David Singer bet 125 from the small blind, and got two callers.

Singer bet 325 at the {2-Diamonds} on the turn, and got called again. The river brought the {6-Diamonds} and a check from Singer. The hijack bet 500, the button folded, and Singer gave the board brief consideration before making the call.

When his opponent showed {K-?}{10-?} for a busted straight draw, Singer showed {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for a pair of 9s. He's up to 6,000 chips.

Still Arriving

Known for their WSOP Final Table appearances, Hevad Khan and Ivan Demidov have taken their seats along with Brooklyn's own Eugene Todd and young gun Jason Riesenberg.

Clark Hamagami and Wooka Kim have joined them as well.
