Roberts Hits Rail in 27th

Following a limper and a raise to 27,000 from middle position, Ben Roberts pushed all in from the button for 300,000, Jonas Wexler called from the small blind, and the others folded.

Roberts had made his move with {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}, but unfortunately for him Wexler had woken up in the SB with {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}.

The board came {10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{7-Spades}{Q-Spades}, and Roberts is out in 27th place, earning $22,157.

We're Back

Cards are back in the air. It's likely we'll be playing two more one-hour levels, then calling it a night.

Relatively speaking, the Amazon Room is somewhat subdued this evening. The other final tables have finished up, and Event No. 56 is now the last bracelet event still running until the big one starts Friday.

There's a Main Event satellite running on the other side of the ballroom, and the usual clutch of cash games that continue around the clock. Not a lot of noise coming from those corners of the room, though. There are about three dozen spectators, however, gathered around the ropes to watch Event No. 56 play out. And we're hearing their reactions to what they're witnessing now and again.

Someone unfamiliar with the WSOP who just happened by might be surprised to know that millions of dollars are on the line. Indeed, there is over $3 million worth of the prize pool still up for grabs, with a whopping $1,003,163 going to the victor.

Hinkle Eliminates Sheikh in 28th

It folded around to Aurangzeb "Ozzy87" Sheikh in the small blind who raised to 30,000, and Blair Hinkle reraised to 95,000 from the big blind. Sheikh shoved all in for approximately 170,000 altogether, and Hinkle made the call.

Sheikh had {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} and Hinkle {Q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. The first card on the flop was a trey -- {3-Spades}{K-Hearts}{8-Spades} -- and after the {2-Spades} turn and {6-Diamonds} river Sheikh was out in 28th place, for which he earns $22,157.

Hinkle is now at 780,000.

Seth Out in 29th

A short-stacked Anirudh Seth was forced to commit his last 85,000 chips with {J-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and was up against Shaun Deeb's {A-Spades}{9-Diamonds}.

The board came {A-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}, and Seth is out in 29th ($22,157).

Deeb has bounced back to 490,000.

Zaichenko Zings Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth had raised a couple of hands in a row, then put in a small preflop raise to 25,000 from under the gun. It folded around to Andrey Zaichenko in the small blind who quickly shoved all in for his whole stack of a little more than 200,000.

Hellmuth then said he was apologizing in advance for the slowroll, but he had apparently only checked one card before raising. The first card had been an ace. And when he checked the second one -- jackpot! Another ace! Hellmuth immediately called, turning over his {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}. Zaichenko then tabled his cards -- {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}.

And then came the flop... {K-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. Two pair for Zaichenko. The turn was the {4-Clubs} and the river the {J-Diamonds}, and Zaichenko is now at 415,000. Hellmuth slips to 150,000.

Hellmuth followed the hand with thoughtful, carefully worded analyses of the relative intelligence of his opponent as well as the dealer. He punctuated his commentary with a final statement regarding his own commitment to the present competition:

"I'm playing for my life here!"

Deeb Dented, Matthews Moves Up

After a flop of {10-Spades}{5-Spades}{6-Hearts}, Rory Matthews and Shaun Deeb both checked, then Sean Keeton bet 37,000 from the button. Matthews check-raised to 165,000. Shaun Deeb then reraised all in for his big stack of 600,000-plus. Keeton folded, but Matthews made the call, putting himself all in for a total of 362,000.

Deeb had {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for tens, but Matthews had {6-Spades}{5-Hearts} for bottom two pair. The turn was the {2-Clubs} and the river the {J-Spades}, and Matthews is now up to 780,000. Deeb tumbles to 295,000.
