Killing the Woolf

Yep, it was that bad
Yep, it was that bad
Dustin Woolf raised to 1,000 from the cutoff and then the small blind reraised to 15,600 and was all in. Woolf made the call all in when action got back to him holding {A-Spades} {K-Hearts}. His opponent held {A-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}.

The board ran out {K-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} with Woolf's opponent holding the only diamond to make the flush. Woolf was sent to the rail.

With the board showing {K-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, Raymond Davis' opponent cut out a bet of 6,000 and pushed it forward, and Davis considered for some time before making the call.

His opponent showed {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}, and Davis mucked. He's now at 55,800.

Playing for Pruitt

"Playing for Pruitt"
"Playing for Pruitt"
The World Series of Poker brings together people with all kinds of stories. We just saw a hand go down with Bill "Stimulus Bill" Sineath over at table #152 in the green section where he locked horns with Rolf Slotboom.

On a board of {K-Spades} {J-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds}, Sineath bet out and Slotboom called. On the river, the pot sat slightly under 10,000 chips when the {7-Spades} landed on the felt. Sineath fired a bet of 10,000 and this seemed to make Slotboom uneasy. He tanked... and tanked... and tanked, checking his cards multiple times every thirty seconds or so.

"I really think you have queen ten." said Slotboom while in the tank. Eventually, he folded his hand after going back and forth in his mind about the decision.

"You wanna see it?" said Sineath.

"Not if it's a bluff." said Slotboom.

Sineath then tabled pocket kings. Slotboom mentioned he held pocket aces and mucked top set. The majority of the table, including Sineath, seemed to take Slotboom's claim to be an honest one. The pot put Sineath up towards 75,000, but that's not the real story behind this hand.

Back on July 13, 2008, U.S. Army Corporal Pruitt Rainey died in Afghanistan. He was deployed there in May of 2007 after being stationed in Italy. Pruitt was the son of one of Sineath's friends. Pruitt's father is on the rail a few feet away from Sineath as he watches him battle with the likes of Mike Caro and Rolf Slotboom often under the scope of the ESPN cameras.

The father informed us that Rainey dreamed of playing in the WSOP Main Event. In honor of the fallen soldier, Pruitt's father and five others are playing the Main Event this year. Sineath is included in this group and all of them are wearing specially made shirts to honor Pruitt that say "Playing for Pruitt". We wish them all the best of luck!

Pirone Cops an Ugly River

On a flop of {4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} the player in the small blind led for 1,500 before Florian Manz tossed out a single 5,000-denomination chip from the big blind with the intention to raise, but he was ruled as just a call.

Play was then with Tony Pirone who popped it up to 10,000 to go. The small blind folded but Manz moved all in. Pirone shrugged and made the call.

Pirone: {3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Manz: {4-Spades}{6-Spades}

The turn bricked the {8-Clubs} but the poker Gods entertained us with the {6-Hearts} falling on the river to give Manz a full house to snatch victory in the pot. He survives and more than doubles to 42,000 with Pirone unlucky to be back to 18,000.

Chopped Pot on the Table of Doom

Jorn Walthaus raised to 750 and Andreas Hoivold called behind to see an {A-Spades} {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} flop, which both players checked -- most sneakily, as it turned out...

Walthaus bet out 1,400 on the {8-Diamonds} turn and Hoivold called; Walthaus stuck another 3,100 in on the {K-Diamonds} river and again, Hoivold called.

Walthaus: {A-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}
Hoivold: {A-Hearts} {6-Hearts}

That king had been Hoivold's saviour -- they chopped it up, and went about their business.

Seidel Loses to Top Two

Seidel loses a hefty a pot on this one
Seidel loses a hefty a pot on this one
The small blind bet the flop of {Q-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} for 2,000. Erik Seidel raised to 5,000 and the player called. The turn brought the {3-Hearts} and action checked to Seidel. He fired a bet of 7,500 and was called once again.

The river brought the {A-Spades} and Seidel's opponent snap-called a bet of 10,000 after checking from the eight-time bracelet winner. Seidel then mucked after his opponent showed {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} for top two pair.

Seidel - 24,600

Trying to be Kara-ful

Kara Scott has suffered a setback, "I'm down to 27,000. I raised {A-?} {Q-?} on the button and the big blind defended with {J-?} {6-?} - the flop was {6-?} {6-?} {Q-?} but he only got two streets of value from me, I checked behind on the river."

Tamayo Gets There

Jonathan Tamayo check-called a bet of 2,000 on a flop of {2-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs} before leading for 3,500 on the {8-Hearts} turn.

"You didn't call me (preflop) with a deuce right?" said his opponent before making the call and they saw the {4-Hearts} land on the river.

Tamayo quickly moved all in and his opponent made the call for his last 13,500 chips.

Tamayo tabled {7-Spades}{6-Spades} for a big draw that finished with a straight as his opponent flashed {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} and made a disgusted exit from the Amazon Room. Tamayo is now up to 52,000 chips.

Einhorn Can't Buy the Pot after Missing

Both David Einhorn and Anahit Galajian checked the flop of {K-Spades} {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}. The turn brought the {10-Diamonds} and Einhorn fired a bet of 1,200. Galajian called.

The river brought the {3-Hearts} and Einhorn fired again, making the bet 3,500 this time. Galajian called.

Einhorn held only {7-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} for a busted flush draw. Galajian tabled two aces, {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts}, and scooped the pot.

Galajian - 24,000
Einhorn - 21,000
