If At First You Don't Succeed

Jim Routos raised from late position to 45,000 and got no less than four callers: Matt Affleck (hijack), Nick Maimone (cutoff), Tian Shou (button), and Benjamin Jensen (big blind).

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{J-Diamonds}. It checked to Routos who bet 455,000, and this time the bet was enough to send everyone away.

Routos is at 705,000.

A Little November Nine Reunion

Can he do it again?
Can he do it again?
Peter Eastgate was just moved over to Blue 38 when his initial table broke, a move that reunited him with his fellow 2008 November Niner Dennis Phillips. Rounding out the lineup are two-time bracelet winner J.C. Tran and 2005 Main Event champion Joe Hachem-- which leaves us wondering... why isn't this the featured table?

A small pot just developed between Phillips and Eastgate, Phillips making it 42,000 to go from middle position and Eastgate making the call from the cutoff. The flop came down {9-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {3-Hearts} . Phillips led out for 85,000 and Eastgate gave it up.

With that hand, Phillips is up to 1.1 million while Eastgate slipped to 820,000.

Presto Goot!

Sometimes a pair -- any pair -- is enough for a short-stacked player in a no-limit hold'em tournament. After Steven Begleiter opened for 44,000, Bradley Craig moved all in for a total of about 300,000. Begleiter called with {A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}, a hand that was flipping against Craig's presto, {5-Clubs} {5-Spades}. Presto was good on a board of {Q-Spades} {10-Clubs} {6-Spades} {4-Hearts} {6-Hearts}.

A few hands later, Craig added another 150,000 to his stack when his pocket tens held up against Taher Alisheik's {K-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} to send Alisheik to the rail.

Craig now has about 800,000 chips.

Soulier Playing Hockey

Fabrice Soulier raised from the cutoff seat to 47,000. Action folded over to Seth Thomsen in the big blind and he moved all in for 302,000 total.

"You want to gamble?" asked Soulier. He then made the call.

Soulier held {7-Clubs} {7-Spades} against Thomsen's {K-Clubs} {Q-Spades}.

The board ran out {A-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {7-Hearts} and Soulier's pocket sevens stood strong. He even made a set on the river, but all he needed to do was dodge a king, queen, or ten.

Thomsen was eliminated while Soulier moved up to 1.9 million

Peppe Pushes Perner

Nichoel Peppe opened the pot with a raise to 40,000 under the gun, and the action came all the way around the table. In the big blind, Bernhard Perner made the call, heads up to the flop.

It came down {A-Spades} {J-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}, and Perner led out with a bet of 47,000. Peppe called, and the turn card was the {7-Diamonds}. Perner fired again, 82,000 this time. After some sideways glances, Peppe raised to 302,000, and it was enough to win her the pot right there.

Nichoel Peppe is up to 1,800,000, dropping Perner down a bit to 2,700,000.

Jordan Fires an Airball

Jordan Morgan found himself all in preflop holding {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}. His opponent was Tim Kahlmeyer and he held {Q-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}. Upon getting all the money in before the flop, Kahlmeyer turned to one of the older gentlemen at the table and said, "Us young players don't see flops."

The board then ran out {J-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} and was no help for Morgan. He was sent to the rail while Kahlmeyer improved to a little over 3.1 million in chips.
