Pat Pezzin completed as last to act after Men Nguyen was forced to bring it in. Nguyen raised, with Pezzin making the call. Both players caught an open pair on fourth street. Pezzin, with the bigger pair, had the betting lead and opted to double-bet. Nguyen called.
On fifth street Pezzin bet again. He had only 15,000 behind his 10,000-chip bet. Nguyen asked for a count, then tanked for more than a minute before finally surrendering his hand.
Nikolay Evdakov completed for 5,000 and Men Nguyen made the call before making it two-bets on fourth street.
Evdakov called and then fired out on sixth only to call another two-bet raise from Nguyen before taking the aggressive line once again and firing out on sixth.
Nguyen slowed down by just calling before folding to a 10,000-chip bet on seventh with each player's respective boards reading as follows.
Evdakov: (X)(X) / / (X)
Nguyen: (X)(X) / / (X)
Following the hand Nguyen slipped to 345,000 as Evdakov climbs to 215,000 in chips.
Eric Bachman has taken down a sizeable pot to soar to over 300,000 in chips.
Buchman led the betting on every street with his three opponents calling him down - albeit Dan Heimiller folding on sixth - until seventh street when they all folded to a 10,000-chip bet from Buchman.
Buchman: (X)(X) / / (X)
Heimiller: (X)(X) / (folded on sixth)
Keith Sexton: (X)(X) / / (X)
Joe Cassidy: (X)(X) / / (X)
The main casualty in the hand was Sexton who was just left with 5,000 in chips, and a few hands later would be sent to the rail by Heimiller.
The tournament is consolidating at a more rapid pace than expected. We're down to 26 players left in the field after Scott Seiver, Matt Glantz and Max Pescatori all busted in rapid succession.
There's a new chip leader in town. His name is Men "the Master" Nguyen. Nguyen bet every street against Pat Pezzin, and Pezzin called him down each time until seventh street. There, when Nguyen fired out one last bet, Pezzin folded.
Pezzin's fold didn't stop Nguyen from showing his hand. He had in the hole for an extremely well-disguised queens full of aces.
Nguyen appears to be leading the tournament now with 340,000. Pezzin is hanging on with 65,000.
