Kevin MacPhee Stumbles Early

Action had folded to Kevin MacPhee when he completed from the small blind. The big blind checked and the two were headed to a friendly flop.

The flop came {q-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades} and MacPhee threw in 25. The big blind countered with a raise to 100 and MacPhee called.

The turn brought the {5-Clubs}, and MacPhee checked. When the big blind bet 100, MacPhee raised to 600, getting a call from the big blind.

The river was the {k-Spades} and MacPhee didn't let up on the aggression. He bet 1,200 into the pot and the big blind elected to call.

MacPhee: {2-Spades}{8-Spades}
Big blind: {a-Spades}{5-Spades}

Little Left with a Little

After the turn, the board read {A-Spades}{2-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and Jonathan Little made a bet of about 1,000. The player in Seat 1 then moved all in for 1,575 more and Little made the call:

Little: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Seat 1: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

Both players had flopped trip aces with a king kicker and were likely going to chop the pot; however, the player in Seat 1 had a freeroll. Since he had a club, and there were three on board, all he needed to do was hit one more on the river to scoop the pot.

The dealer burned and flipped over the {Q-Clubs}. Seat 1 slapped the table in excitement while Little counted out chips. After the hand Little was left with only a little over a thousand in chips.

Early Exit for Yang

The 2007 Main Event Champ won't be adding another gold bracelet to his collection today. Jerry Yang was all in for his last 700 or so on a board reading {7-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}.

Yang had made a pair with his {7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}, but it wasn't good enough to overcome his opponent's {4-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for a flopped straight.

Yang was eliminated on the hand and became one of the early casualties on Day 1B.

Filippi Takes a Small Pot

Aciton has been pretty slow at the start of the tournament. Typical pots seem to be like the one that just occurred at Amnon Filippi's table.

With about 300 in the pot, Filippi bet 225 on a board reading {5-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Filippi's opponent in Seat 2 promptly folded and gave up the small pot.

Action is sure to pick up as missing players take their seats and the levels tick away.

Three's Not a Crowd

Three gentlemen at Table 25 have been playing three-handed for over 25 minutes now. They've got more players assigned to their table, but they have yet to show. Steal those blinds, fellas.

"Not a Good Start"

Jerry Yang was sheepishly looked at out field reporter and said, "Not a good start." This was in reference to his stack of 1,150, less than half of what he started with minutes ago.

Yang might be comforted by the fact that players have already busted from the tournament, so having chips at this point is better than not having them at all.
