Mizzi Scoops Zolotow

Steve Zolotow checked the flop of {10-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Spades} to Sorel Mizzi. Mizzi bet out and Zolotow called. The turn card brought the {3-Hearts} and Zolotow check-called again. The river was the {A-Hearts} and Zolotow check-called again.

Mizzi showed the {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for aces and tens with a live five for the low. Zolotow tabled the {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for a worse two pair and no low. Mizzi was able to scoop the pot and move up to 42,000 in chips while Zolotow dropped down to 27,000.

Unimproved Aces No Good for Landrum

It looked like each player put three bets in the pot pre-flop in a hand between Lyle Berman and Sabyl Landrum. Landrum was out of position. She check-called one bet on a flop of {q-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {j-Diamonds} and another when the turn blanked {2-Hearts}. The river, however, was the complete opposite of a blank. The {k-Diamonds} filled all kinds of draws. Landrum and Berman both checked. Berman took down the pot with a king-high straight, {k-Spades} {j-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {3-Hearts}. Landrum flashed two aces and mucked.

Wattel Too Tough for the Chainsaw

Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler was happy to be near the top of the counts in the early-going. Since we've come back from dinner, however, a few hands haven't gone Kessler's way.

Kessler, Barry Shulman, Mike Wattel and one other player were in for two bets pre-flop. Shulman checked a {4-Clubs} {q-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} flop to Wattel, who bet. Kessler and Shulman both called.

Wattel fired again when the turn paired the board, {4-Spades}. It was a bet that only Kessler called. The action was the same on the {a-Clubs} river. Wattel showed down {k-Hearts} {j-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {6-Clubs} for a rivered Broadway straight. Kessler looked bck at his cards, muttered something unintelligible, and then mucked.

Wattel now has 20,000. Kessler has about 48,000.

Sagstrom's Aces Good

Erik Sagstrom raised and then Andy Bloch reraised with Sagstrom making the call. The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and Sagstrom bet out. Bloch raised and Sagstrom called.

The turn was the {K-Spades} and Sagstrom bet out again into his opponent. Bloch made the call. The river completed the board with the {5-Diamonds} and Sagstrom bet out one more time. Bloch made the call.

Sagstrom tabled the {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for a pair of aces and Bloch mucked his hand, dropping to 25,500 in chips. Sagstrom increased to 46,000.

Corkins Busts

On the flop of {J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, Hoyt Corkins was all in against George Lind. Corkins was knocked down to a very short stack a little while ago by Chino Rheem. Corkins held the {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and Lind the {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Spades}.

The turn was the {4-Spades} and the river the {8-Clubs}, eliminating Corkins from the tournament. Lind moved up to about 12,000 chips.

Negreanu Sinking

Daniel Negreanu's stack is down to 6,500 after running into a wheel. Pre-flop Negreanu and Jordan Morgan were the two callers to a player's raise. That player bet a flop of {q-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} after Negreanu checked. Morgan folded but Negreanu called the the {8-Diamonds} turn. He led that card, then checked the {4-Diamonds} river after his opponent called. That player bet the river, with Negreanu calling and mucking when his opponent showed down a wheel, {a-Spades} {a-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {3-Clubs}.

Corkins Left Short

Hoyt Corkins raised under the gun, Tony G called in middle position and then Chino Rheem called in the big blind. The flop came down {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and Rheem checked. Corkins bet and Tony G called. Rheem raised, Corkins called and then Tony G folded.

The turn brought the {9-Hearts} and Rheem bet out. Corkins made the call. The river completed the board with the {5-Hearts} and Rheem bet again. Corkins called one final time.

Rheem tabled the {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} and scooped the pot from Corkins, who was left short after the hand.

Cassidy Gets Nuts

Joe Cassidy was one of three players (along with Brett Richey and Ted Lawson) to call a pre-flop raise made by Chris Ferguson. Ferguson had second action on a flop of {7-Clubs} {k-Hearts} {a-Spades} and chose to bet. Richey and Cassidy, in position behind Ferguson, called to the {q-Diamonds} turn. The action checked all the way to Cassidy, whose bet was called two ways.

On the river {9-Hearts} action checked to Cassidy again. This time only Ferguson called Cassidy's bet. Cassidy tabled {q-Spades} {j-Clubs} {j-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}, a Broadway straight and the nuts. He was pushed the whole pot after Ferguson mucked.

Cassidy is up to about 43,000.
