Running Wheel Cards Give Yeh the Scoop

Andrew Yeh
Andrew Yeh

As we walked past Andrew Yeh's table, we saw Yeh involved in a pot with Jennifer Harman. Yeh bet a flop of {k-Hearts} {q-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}. Harman had position on Yeh and called to see the {a-Spades} fall on the turn. That card didn't scare Yeh; he bet again, and again Harman called.

Yeh fired one last bullet on the {5-Diamonds} river. Harman called, then mucked her hand when Yeh turned up {a-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {3-Spades} {2-Diamonds}. He flopped the nut flush draw, then went runner-runner to make a wheel.

Yeh is near the top of the counts after that pot. He has 73,000.

Live of Ivey

Phil Ivey just kept firing and eventually he won the pot. He re-raised after one player limped into the pot pre-flop and another raised. Both called. Ivey fired first to act on a flop of {3-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {6-Clubs}. Both players called.

Ivey fired again on the {5-Spades} turn and got one opponent to fold. He fired a fourth time on the {9-Hearts} river and was called. At showdown, Ivey produced {a-Spades} {2-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {9-Clubs} for the nut low and two pair, nines and sixes. Both hands were best, giving Ivey a scoop to 44,000.

Richey's Kings Best Brunson's Aces

Doyle Brunson and Brett Richey got four bets in pre-flop, with Brunson putting in the first and last raises and Richey calling in position. Brunson fired again on a flop of {10-Spades} {k-Spades} {5-Hearts}. Richey called to the {2-Hearts} turn, where he raised all in after Brunson bet. Brunson called with {a-Spades} {j-Spades} {a-Hearts} {6-Hearts}, a pair of aces and just about every possible draw in the world. Richey turned up a set of kings, {a-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {k-Diamonds} {k-Clubs}. Brunson needed a non-pair heart, a non-pair spade, a queen, the case ace or any number of low cards to get at least half of the pot. Instead he got nothing when the river came {9-Clubs}. An epic fade gave Richey the scoop and a boost to 15,000.

Uchida Ducks One All In

Shun Uchida is among a minority of the field that already finds itself incredibly short-stacked. Uchida was all in on a flop of {q-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {j-Clubs} and called by another player. Uchida tabled {a-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} [jh, a set of fours with no running low draw. His opponent showed {a-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {q-Spades}, top pair with some low possibilities. The turn and river came {5-Clubs} and {6-Clubs} to give Uchida's opponent a running low and a chopped pot.

Uchida has about 5,000 chips.

Bleznick Check-Raises Rheem on River

On the board of {10-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}, Tony G checked to Jared Bleznick. He fired a bet and then Chino Rheem raised. The raise knocked out Tony G before Bleznick made the call.

The river card finished out the board with the {4-Spades} and Bleznick checked. Rheem fired a bet and then Bleznick raised. Rheem tanked for about a minute and then finally folded his hand, claiming to fold two kings.

"I'm not gonna lie to you, good fold," responded Bleznick, who moved back to the starting stack of 30,000 chips. Rheem dropped to 49,000.

Odd Two Pair Works for D'Agostino

Normally two pair is not going to scoop a four-way showdown in Omaha Hi/Lo. But it did in a recent hand for John D'Agostino. D'Agostino, Alexander Kravchenko, Steve Sung and Neal Friets all called a pre-flop raise from the button player at their table. That player continued on a flop of {9-Spades} {8-Clubs} {3-Hearts} when the action checked to him. Everyone except Kravchenko called.

The turn was the {k-Diamonds}. When action came to Friets, he led into the button player. That player called, as did Sung and D'Agostino in turn.

The river fell {j-Spades}. Action checked all the way through. D'Agostino called two pair and opened {k-Spades} {q-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {2-Spades} for kings and treys. Surprisingly, that was good enough to take the whole pot.

Schulman Quartered

Nick Schulman ran back to his seat and stumbled into his chair in order to reach his hand before all the cards were dealt out. He was able to get ahold of his cards just as the dealer finished the deal, a split second before they were going to be mucked. He was under the gun and raised. A player in middle position called and then Eugene Katchalov called from the big blind.

The flop came down {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Katchalov checked. Schulman bet, the next player called and then Katchalov folded.

The turn card added the {7-Spades} to the board and both players checked. The river card was the {4-Clubs} and Schulman bet out. His opponent raised and Schulman made the call.

Schulman tabled the {A-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and his opponent the {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts}. Schulman's low only won him a quarter of the pot as the other player held the same low and a better high. Schulman was knocked down to about 37,000 chips.
