Epstein Slow Rolls the Scoop

Fred Koubi raised preflop, and Scott Epstein called in the cutoff. Koubi bet the {10-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop, and Epstein raised him. Koubi called, then checked the {j-Hearts} turn. Epstein checked behind, and both quickly checked the {6-Hearts} river. Epstein made some murmurs about how Koubi's hand was good after Koubi showed {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, but Epstein had been focusing on how he'd missed his flopped spade flush draw and bricked a low. It took him a moment to recheck his {a-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts} and notice that he'd runner-runnered a flush. He apologized to Koubi, who just stared off in the other direction and chomped his gum as Epstein took the pot.

Chow Beats Epstein; Epstein Doubles through Chow

Michael Chow and Scott Epstein played two hands in rapid succession, and it appeared that Epstein wound up getting the best of it. In the first hand, Chow managed to get only one small bet after the flop when he flopped a set of kings. The hand checked down the rest of the way.

A few hands later, Epstein called Chow's bet on a flop of {7-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {q-Hearts}. When the turn came {7-Diamonds} and Chow bet again, Epstein raised all in. Chow called with a hand that we didn't get to see; it didn't matter much, because Epstein's {a-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {k-Spades} wound up scooping when the river fell {2-Hearts} to give him the nut low and three sevens.

Heimiller Quartered but Cruising

Fred Koubi raised preflop, and Dan Heimiller called in the small blind. He bet after the {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop, and Koubi called. Repeat on the {j-Hearts} turn and {6-Diamonds} river. At this point, that's pretty pricey. In a heads up pot, a raise and call preflop and a bet and call on each street builds a pot between 420,000 and 465,000 depending on whether the caller is one of the blinds. After Koubi called the third street, Heimiller showed {a-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Spades} for the A-4 low and a pair of eights. Koubi bested him for the top half of the pot and chopped the bottom with {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}.

Despite being quartered, Heimiller has been eating his spinach, err, drinking his tomato juice, and is sitting on 900,000.

Todd Barlow Eliminated in 9th Place ($17,780)

Todd Barlow - 9th Place
Todd Barlow - 9th Place

Oh my goodness, that was a dirty beat that Todd Barlow just took. Pre-flop, he called from the button after Dan Heimiller raised in early position. It was just the two of them to a flop of {6-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {5-Spades}. Heimiller bet, then called after Barlow raised all in. Barlow had trip fives with {a-} {2-} {5-} {7-Hearts}; Heimiller was drawing at half of the low with {a-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {q-Clubs}. Barlow couldn't figure out how he lost the pot when the turn and river came running sixes, {6-Clubs} {6-Diamonds}. It was because each player had to use two plus three. Each players was playing three sixes from the board, but Heimiller's {A-Hearts} {q-Clubs} out-kicked Barlow's {a-} {7-}.

Once it was explained, Barlow nodded his head, stood up, and went to collect $17,780.

Secret Weapon

Who would have guessed what effect tomato juice has on a table? Maybe Dan Heimiller unveiled his secret plan to tilt the other players. Sasha Rosewood, sitting on Heimiller's right, is not a fan of the pungent tomato odor. He canvassed the rail for some gum so he could try to block out the smell that way. And somehow, spurred by Heimiller's beverage of choice, they table talk has turned to cannibalism horror stories. Yum.

Heimiller and Leibman Chop It Up

There was 400,000 in the middle by the river of a huge pot between Dan Heimiller, Joe Leibman, and Michael Cipolla. Heimiller tossed another bet at the {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Clubs} board, and Leibman raised to 120,000. Cipolla folded, and Heimiller wasn't happy about it, but he called. Leibman's {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{2-Clubs} was good for the high half of the pot with the rivered nut flush, and Heimiller's {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} was enough for the low half of the pot since his 6-4-3-2-A beat Leibman's 7-6-3-2-A. The chopped up the huge pot and split Cippolla's money.

Heimiller can celebrate his profit from the pot with the unusual order the cocktail waiter just brought to the table - two cups of tomato juice and a cup of ice.

Rosewood Back in the Game

It didn't take Sasha Rosewood long to re-acquired his lost chips. He raised after Fred Koubi limped into the pot pre-flop. Koubi was the only player to call the raise. Koubi led into Rosewood aftear a flop of {q-Spades} {7-Spades} {k-Diamonds}; Rosewood called.

Koubi also led the {9-Hearts} turn, then got an opportunity to re-raise after Rosewood raised. Rosewood called. Both player cautiously checked the {q-Diamonds} river, with Rosewood tabling a striaght, {a-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {j-Diamonds} {10-Spades}, to collect the pot. He's back up to about 450,000 in chips.
