Hinkle Cut Down

Grant Hinkle is out shy of the cash, but still thumbs up with us
Grant Hinkle is out shy of the cash, but still thumbs up with us

Limit

Grant Hinkle raised from middle position and Manish Patel three-bet it from the small blind. Alexandre Gomes called from the big, and Hinkle called as well.

The flop came out {J-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} and Hinkle bet all in for his last 2,400. The small blind check-raised, and Gomes folded out of the way to let the other two turn up their cards. Hinkle was all in with {10-Spades} {10-Diamonds}, and he's run into Patel's {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}. The turn and river came {9-Spades} and {3-Diamonds} respectively, and Hinkle has been eliminated just three places shy of the money.

Potter Cracked

Limit

We saw Jason Potter standing up behind his chair, so we scurried over to his table to see what was going on. There were four cards out on a board showing {J-Spades} {5-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {9-Hearts}, and Potter was all in with {Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades} tabled in front of his stack. Steven Kelly turned up {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}, and Potter said, "Oh s***!"

The river was the {2-Clubs}, and Potter gathered his belongings and cut a path to the exit.

Froehliching Along

Eric Froehlich
Eric Froehlich

Limit

Eric Froehlich opened by raising from the hijack seat, then Daniel Idema three-bet from the cutoff seat. The button and blinds folded, and Froehlich called.

The flop came {3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. Froehlich checked, Idema bet, Froehlich check-raised, and Idema called. The turn came the {5-Clubs}, Froehlich bet, and Idema called. Idema again called Froehlich's bet following the {6-Clubs} river.

Froehlich showed {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for trip fives, and Idema mucked. Froehlich chips up to 115,000. Meanwhile, Idema has had a rough start today thus far, and has fallen to 56,000.

Shorr Shot Down

No-Limit

Aaron Steury opened with a raise to 3,500, and Shannon Shorr, sitting to Steury's left, reraised to 9,000. It folded back around and Steury reraised all-in, and Shorr called with his remaining 20,000.

Steury showed {A-Spades}{10-Clubs} and Shorr {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. The flop was okay for Shorr -- {7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, but the {A-Clubs} on the turn was not what he wanted to see. The river was the {7-Diamonds}, and Shorr is out just a few spots shy of the money.

Steury now has 115,000.

Desferet Feeling Kingly

No-Limit

A three-way all-in just now involving Scott Mayfield (in for his last 15,000 or so), Eduard Scharf (in for his last 10,000), and Renaud Desferet, who had both covered.

Scharf {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}
Mayfield {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Desferet {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}

The flop came {8-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, and Scharf's rockets were still best. But the {K-Diamonds} on the turn put Desferet in front, and the {6-Spades} river sealed it.

Scharf and Mayfield are out, while Desferet is now stacking about 86,000.

Flush Over Flush

No-Limit

With the board showing {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}, Kyle Ray checked, Eduard Scharf bet 9,000, then Ray check-raised all in for 45,800 total. Scharf made the call, tabling {9-Spades}{8-Spades} for the flush. But Ray had a couple of higher spades -- {A-Spades}{J-Spades} -- making the {Q-Hearts} river no matter.

Ray jumps up to 115,000, while Scharf falls to 10,200.

Sachinidas Sticking Around

No-Limit

Dimitrios Sachinidas was all in for about his last lonely 8,000 chips before the flop, and he was racing his {3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} against Cyriel Dohmen's {A-Spades} {Q-Hearts} for double or nothing.

The flop had a three but it was suited in spades for the sweat. In the end, though, the board of {3-Spades} {J-Spades} {2-Spades} {10-Hearts} {7-Clubs} was safe for the pocket threes, and Sachinidas has doubled up to 16,000.
