Petersen's Early Kings

No-Limit

It sure is nice to look down at pocket kings in the first orbit of Day 2 when you're below average in chips. That's what happened for Jesper Petersen and his stack of about 45,000, and he was more than happy to get it all in there preflop against Jeff Shulman.

The only problem for Petersen was that his {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds} ran smack into Shulman's {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}, and it looked like he was going to have an awfully short Day 2.

The board ran out {10-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}, and Shulman's aces hold up to earn him the pot and the early knockout. He's up to 105,000, and you can put Petersen at zero.

Action Begins

"All in!"

We're already hearing the call from the short stacks here in the no-limit half of Level 11. Just now we heard it from Table 368, where Casey Yontz has eliminated a short-stacked Eric Haddad in an early hand. Yontz pushes his stack to 34,500 on that one.

Let's Do This

Cards are in the air! As will be the case throughout, we're starting with 30 minutes of no-limit hold'em this level, to be followed by 30 minutes of fixed limit HE.

69 Return to Mix It Up on Day 2

Eli Elezra
Eli Elezra

"Limit is killing me!"

That was the refrain we heard most often yesterday during the first day of play of Event #44, the $2,500 Mixed Hold'em event in which players alternate between a half-hour of no-limit hold'em and a half-hour of limit HE.

Of course, there were likely those who felt plenty comfortable during the limit rounds, for whom no-limit might have been "killing" them. Those limit guys, though, tend to be a little less vocal. For them, the complaints were generally more reserved, often variations of a similar theme: "I just can't pick up a hand."

It was a whirlwind day yesterday, with the field of 507 being whittled all of the way down to just 69. Eli Elezra bagged the most chips at day's end, followed closely by Jim "Mr_BigQueso" Collopy. The plan today will be to play ten levels or down to the final nine, whichever comes first.

Join us back here at 2:30 p.m. local time for all of the action!
