Jacks Good

Joe McGowan raised from the cutoff and Brendan Taylor reraised from the button. The blinds folded and McGowan made the call. The flop came down {9-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Hearts} and it went check, bet, call.

The same betting occurred on the {Q-Hearts} turn and {8-Clubs} river. Taylor showed {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a rivered pair of eights but McGowan showed {J-Clubs}{J-Spades} for a bigger pair. Taylor dropped to 405,000 after the hand while McGowan is up to

Maal Turns Two, Tags Little

All of our pots have been raised, of course, so there was nothing different in a pot between Jonathan Little and Sijbrand Maal. Maal checked and called a bet on a queen-high flop, {8-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}. When the turn fell a third Broadway card, the {k-Hearts}, Maal checked again. Little bet again but was greeted with a check-raise from Maal. Little called that raise and called on more bet on the {2-Clubs} river. Maal showed two pair, {k-Spades}{j-Spades}, to collect the pot.

Taylor Gets 'em Back

After giving up on his last hand, Brendan Taylor took it to the hoop this time around against Jonathan Little. Taylor opened for a raise pre-flop, then called after Little re-raised him in position. Taylor checked and called a bet on a seven-high flop, {2-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}. When the turn paired the board {5-Spades}, he checked and then raised after Little fired a second time. Little called that raise, then called a final bet on the {q-Hearts} river. He couldn't beat Taylor's {k-}{7-}, which had flopped a pair of sevens.

Taylor Gives Up on the River

We had the first moment of what could be considered "tanking" at this final table. Mike Schneider raised pre-flop and was three-bet by Brendan Taylor from the big blind. Schneider called to a flop of {10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. Taylor bet and was called, then bet again when the turn paired the board {10-Diamonds}. Schneider also called that bet, taking the two players to the river. Taylor finally slowed down and checked. Schneider took that as his cue to bet. Taylor took about twenty seconds (ages in limit hold'em) before mucking his hand.

Maal Uncontested

Sijbrand Maal has been struggling so far but he got a few chips back off o Joseph McGowan. Maal opened with a raise from middle position that McGowan three-bet from the button. Maal called, then checked and called another bet on an ace-high flop, {q-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. Both players checked the {4-Spades} turn, leading Maal to fire out on the {9-Clubs} river. McGowan opted to fold.

Tate Can't Win Every Pot

Brian Tate has been playing well and running good in the first few levels, but even he can't win every pot. He was in the blinds an called a pre-flop raise from Ben Yu. Yu fired every street, {4-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Tate checked and called every bet, including the last, but had to muck his hand when Yu sh owed {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for two pair, queens and fours.
