Barch Doubles, Then Busts

From the small blind, John "Tex" Barch completed the bet and was all in for 400 chips. He was up against only the big blind and both players drew one card apiece on each street. Barch held the {8-}{5-}{4-}{3-} going into the last draw when he pulled a {7-}. His opponent mucked his hand and Barch doubled to 800.

That would be the end of Barch's comeback though, as he was eliminated shortly thereafter.

Daniel Negreanu Eliminated

After a series of predraw raises, Daniel Negreanu was all in for his remaining 1,875 against Charles Lehr.

Lehr drew two, one, then stood pat. Negreanu drew one the entire way and sweated the last card

Lehr tabled {9-}{7-}{6-}{3-}{2-} and Negreanu flipped up {8-}{5-}{4-}{2-}, peeling the final card. "It's three across and a spade," he said. However, he shook his head and turned up the {8-Spades} and headed to the rail.

As he was leaving he commented,"That was sick. I went through 20k in seven minutes."

Are Three Fives Good?

The button raised when action folded to him and Alexander Kostritsyn reraised from the small blind. The button made the call and then drew two after Kostritsyn drew the same. Kostritsyn fired, the button raised and Kostritsyn called.

On the next draw, Kostritsyn drew one and the button stood pat. Kostritsyn checked and the button bet. Kostritsyn called.

On the final draw, Kostritsyn drew one and the button stood pat again. Kostritsyn then led with a bet and the button mucked his hand, showing three fives and saying, "That any good?" Kostritsyn scooped the pot and moved back to 9,400.

Toth Pairs Up and Can't Call

Amnon Filippi was under the gun and raised. Team PokerStars Pro Richard Toth reraised from middle position and Filippi made the call after action folded back around to him. Filippi then drew two and Toth drew one. Filippi checked and Toth bet. Filippi called.

On the next draw, Filippi drew one, as did Toth. Both players checked on this street before drawing one more card on the end each. Filippi led out on the final street of action and Toth couldn't make the call, revealing the {7-}{6-}{6-}{4-}{2-} for a pair in his hand. Filippi showed Toth that he had him beat with the {8-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{2-} and increased his stack to just over 20,000 chips. Toth slid to 5,200.

Lederer Doubles

Howard Lederer
Howard Lederer

Howard Lederer and an opponent got all in after the second draw after several raises back and forth. Lederer was the player at risk in the hand and after his opponent stood pat, Lederer deliberated for some time about what to do.

"I can't believe you're going to make me break this," said Lederer while tanking. He then showed a {9-} and broke his hand, electing to draw one.

His opponent showed the {8-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-} and revealed to Lederer what he had to beat. Lederer was squeezing to a {7-}{4-}{3-}{2-}. He peeled back his last card and revealed a {6-}, drawing better than his opponent and doubling up to about 7,500.

Smith Triples

Gavin Smith just tripled himself back up after he showed a {9-}{8-}{7-}{5-}{2-} in a pot where he was all in pre-draw and up against two other opponents. He's still short, but at least has a little life in him at 2,700 chips.
