Blain Flushed with Chips

Facing a preflop raise to 350, Jose Ignacio Barbero and Dermot Blain made the call next to act before Andre Akkari three-bet his button to 1,400.

The three active players all made the call to see a {10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{6-Spades} flop fall with all four players checking it through as the {K-Spades} landed on the turn.

Team PokerStars Pro Brazil member Andre Akkari fired a delayed continuation-bet of 2,700 only to find some heat from the original raiser when he made it 6,950 to go.

Barbero passed, but with the action on APPT Macau Champion Blain, he pushed all in for 19,050. Akkari passed and Blain was met with a call.

Blain: {8-Spades}{7-Spades}
Opponent: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

With Blain trailing in both hand strength and chips, he would be fortunate enough to spike the {Q-Spades} on the river to see him make a flush and soar to nearly 50,000 in chips.

John Duthie Out

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante
John Duthie [during the heads-up championship]
John Duthie [during the heads-up championship]

We caught up with the action just as a {2-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{K-Spades} flop had been dealt with two players in the hand. John Duthie bet 2,200 from the big blind and the player on the button smooth called.

The turn brought a {J-} and Duthie moved in for his remaining 8,000. The button called and showed {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} for top two, while Duthie showed just {J-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for third pair.

The {9-Diamonds} river was no help to Duthie, who was sent to the rail.

Smith Survives on River

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

On a {6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop, Dan Smith committed his final few thousand with David "The Dragon" Pham making the call.

Smith: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Pham: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

The turn fell the {7-Diamonds}, and when the river spiked the {A-Diamonds}, Smith doubled through to 16,900 while crippling Pham to just 2,700 in chips.

Good Fold by Phillips?

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

With the board reading {3-Spades}{J-Hearts}{6-Spades}{10-Spades}{K-Diamonds} we found Carter Phillips firing out a bet only to be jammed on by Gavin Griffin.

With a fairly substantial pot brewing, Phillips contemplated committing his remaining 6,500 in chips, but after a few moments of deliberation, he open-mucked his {J-Spades}{8-Spades}.

Griffin mucked his hand and dragged the pot to move to 37,000 in chips.

Hard(er) For Some Ladies

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

With a raise to 525, Chad Batista three-bet to 1,350 a few spots over before Christian Harder four-bet jammed for his remaining 7,450. The original raiser folded, but Batista made the call to put Harder at risk.

Batista: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Harder: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

The board ran out {J-Hearts}{3-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{7-Spades} to see Harder double through to over 16,000 as Batista slipped to roughly 3,500 in chips.

Shannon Shorr Chipping Up

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

Before the flop, a player from middle position raised to 600 and was called from the hijack, cutoff and Shannon Shorr in the small blind.

The flop came {J-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Shorr checked. The original raiser c-bet to 1,500 and was called only by Shorr.

The turn brought a {3-Diamonds} and both players checked to see a river, which was the {7-Spades}. Shorr then under-bet the pot for just 900, which induced a raise from the middle position player to 2,800. Shorr thought it over a bit before re-raising the other player all in.

"You play great," Shorr's opponent said as he mucked his {A-}{J-} face up for top pair, top kicker.

Shorr is now up to around 29,000.
