Razz Battles feat. Lamb and Seiver

Razz

Minh Ly: (X)(X) / {3-}{k-}{k-} FOLDED
Ben Lamb: (X)(X) / {2-}{10-}{3-}{8-} / (X)
Scott Seiver: (X)(X) / {2-}{9-}{5-}{10-} / (X)

Ly completed, and Lamb and Seiver called. Seiver led on fourth street, and Ly and Lamb called.

Seiver led again on fifth, only Lamb called, and when Lamb made a better board on sixth, it was his turn to bet out. Seiver called.

Both players checked on seventh, and Lamb rolled over {6-}{4-}{x-} for an eight-six. Seiver mucked, and Lamb drug in the pot.

A few hands later...

Lamb: (X)(X) / {5-}{10-}{6-}{q-} / (X)
Seiver: (X)(X) / {9-}{4-}{3-}{5-} / (X)

Lamb completed, and Seiver called. Seiver then proceeded to lead on every street, Lamb called him down, and Seiver opened up {a-}{8-}{10-} for an eight-five.

Lamb mucked, and it was Seiver's turn to win a pot.

Razz

The rail is getting deeper, the atmosphere more intense, as play continues at our final two tables.

Jeffrey Lisandro: (X)(X) / {A-}{6-}{2-}{Q-} / (X)
Phil Hellmuth: (X)(X) / {3-}{2-}{9-}{10-} / (X)

Lisandro took the lead in this razz hand with a raise on third which Hellmuth called. Hellmuth then called Lisandro's bets on fourth and fifth, before both players slowed down, checking both sixth and seventh.

Hellmuth tabled {A-}{4-}{7-} to make a 7-4-3-2-A, and Lisandro mucked. Hellmuth has 615,000 now, while Lisandro has 970,000.

Lamb vs. Hellmuth for WSOP Player of the Year

Level 18

Going into this event, Ben Lamb led the World Series of Poker Player of the Year race with 575.65 points. Phil Hellmuth sat in fourth place with 458.25 points. That's a 114.4-point difference and means that Hellmuth must earn that many more points than Lamb in order to overtake him.

Here's the current WSOP POY standings and we'll redirect you to the WSOP POY formula page for the info on that as it gets a little too confusing to explain. The two already had a little banter back and forth earlier, so this could also add some fuel to the fire.

The race is on for WSOP POY and it's Hellmuth versus Lamb for the title.

I Thought You Said Chop-Chop?

Ahmed: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}{10-Clubs}{6-Clubs} - High
Lind: {a-Clubs}{3-Spades}{j-Clubs}{j-Hearts} - Low

Omaha-8

Jason Lester opened with a raise from middle position and got one caller in Owais Ahmed in the big blind. The flop came {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, Ahmed bet, and Lester called. The turn was the {2-Diamonds}. Ahmed bet again, and Lester once more stuck around. Both players then checked the {2-Hearts} river.

Lester tabled {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Clubs} for queens and tens, and Ahmed mucked.

Phil Hellmuth: (X)(X) / {J-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} / (X)
Matt Glantz: (X)(X) / {K-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} -- FOLDED
Robert Mizrachi (X)(X) / {7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Spades} / (X)

On third Hellmuth raised, Glantz called, a short-stacked Mizrachi reraised, and both Hellmuth and Glantz called. It checked to Hellmuth on fifth who bet, Mizrachi pushed his last 8,000 in, and Glantz called. Glantz then folded to Hellmuth's fifth-street bet.

The remaining cards were dealt, and Hellmuth tabled {K-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and then the {A-Hearts} on seventh for a pair of nines. His hand was best, as Mizrachi had {3-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and picked up the {2-Hearts} on the end for deuces. Mizrachi goes out in 17th -- squarely on a huge, six-figure bubble -- while Hellmuth now sits with 510,000.

They are presently redrawing for the final two eight-handed tables.

Minh Ly: (X)(X) / {3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Spades} / (X)
Josh Arieh: (X)(X) / {5-Spades}{3-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{5-Hearts} / (X)
Jon Turner: (X)(X) / {8-Clubs}{q-Spades}{k-Spades}{k-Hearts} / (X)

Ly brought it in, Arieh completed, and Turner put in a raise. Ly and Arieh called. Turner led on fourth street, Ly and Arieh called, and Ly led on fifth when he made a pair of tens. Arieh called, and Turner called all in for less than a bet - 36,000.

Ly and Arieh checked on sixth, and Ly check-folded on seventh. Arieh showed {k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for a straight, and before sweating his last card, Turner showed {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for kings and eights. Turner's down-card was a disappointing {2-Diamonds}, and he was eliminated from the tournament.

With Turner's elimination in 18th place, we are now on a six-figure money bubble!

Owais Ahmed: (X)(X) / {3-Spades}{10-Spades}{J-Hearts}{8-Spades} / (X)

Sebastian Ruthenberg completed and George Lind called. Owais Ahmed also called. On fourth street, Ruthenberg checked, Lind bet and Ahmed called. Ruthenberg folded. On fifth street, Lind bet and Ahmed raised. Lind made the call. On sixth, Lind checked, Ahmed bet and Lind called. On seventh, Lind checked, Ahmed bet, Lind check-raised and Ahmed just called.

Ahmed turned over {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{Q-Clubs} for a spade flush, {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Spades}. Lind mucked his hand and Ahmed won the pot.

Chen Up

Level 18

Stud

Yan Chen: (X)(X) / {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts} / (X)
Phil Hellmuth: (X)(X) / {A-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades} -- FOLDED
Matt Glantz: (X)(X) / {K-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{4-Spades} / (X)

We picked up the action on fourth where it checked to Chen who bet, and both Glantz and Hellmuth called. It checked to Chen again on fifth, and this time only Glantz stuck around. Glantz called Chen's bets on sixth and seventh as well.

Chen showed {8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a nine-high straight and Glantz mucked. Chen moves to 1.38 million, Glantz slips to 880,000, and Hellmuth is now down to 370,000.

Amid Hellmuth's grumbling afterwards, Ben Lamb challenged him to play the same eight-game mix heads-up.

"I'll play you, I'll play you," said Hellmuth, though didn't pursue specifics. "Well, I'm not going to let you keep talking sh*t," said Lamb, pursuing the point. "You're real good, kid, real good," Hellmuth added derisively.

Yan Chen then piped up, saying he'd bet on Hellmuth in such a match. "Well, he won't bet on himself," said Lamb.

Meanwhile, Hellmuth is facing another, more immediate challenge, as the bubble is approaching fast.
