Arnaud Mattern
Arnaud Mattern

Arnaud Mattern has been knocked out after he called a three bet with {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} against the big blind and then called a flop bet on an {A-Diamonds}{K-}{J-Diamonds} board. Mattern shoved over a bet on the {7-Diamonds} and was called by his opponent's {A-}{K-} but the river was another {A-} to make a full house for his foe in a 75,000 chip pot.

The Prince Chips Up

Scotty Nguyen
Scotty Nguyen

Scotty Nguyen opened for 1,800 from early position and was called by the player in the cutoff and the big blind.

The flop came {K-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and everyone checked. The turn brought the {2-Diamonds} and the big blind led out for 3,000. Nguyen tossed in a call and the big folded.

The {5-Diamonds} completed the board and the big blind checked, prompting a 6,000 bet from Nguyen. His opponent tanked, but reluctantly slid in a call.

Nguyen revealed {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} and his opponent rapped the table in acknowledgement and mucked.

Nguyen is back up to 38,000.

Waxman On, Waxman Off (To the Rail That Is)

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

The player in the cutoff raised to 1,600 and Matt Waxman re-raised on the button to 3,600. Action folded back around to the cutoff who called. The flop came {10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts} and the cutoff led out for 4,400. Waxman then moved all in for a total of 19,150 and after not much thought the cutoff called.

Waxman: {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Cutoff: {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

The cutoff's pair of tens were leading Waxman's pair of sevens. The turn and river brought the {q-Diamonds} and {q-Clubs} which were of no help to Waxman who was eliminated.

A Glantz-ing Blow

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante
Fatima Moreira de Melo
Fatima Moreira de Melo

From middle position, Fatima Moreira de Melo opened to 2,500, and a player with better position flatted. In the small blind, though, Matt Glantz squeezed in a reraise to 13,300, and de Melo four-bet right to 28,800. Glantz shoved in for 58,125 total, and the call came to put him at risk. He had it, though.

Showdown
De Melo: {A-Spades} {K-Hearts}
Glantz: {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs}

Glantz's rockets were never in trouble as the board came {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{9-Spades}{j-Hearts}. After that big pot, de Melo is all the way down to 37,000 while Glantz doubles over 120,000.

Mizzi Misstep

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

Russell Carson opened to 1,350, and received calls from Sorrel Mizzi, Daniel Negreanu (button) and Duane Wellnitz (big blind). All four players checked the {k-Spades}{5-Hearts}{a-Hearts} flop, and Wellnitz led for 4,200 after the {a-Clubs} turned. Only Mizzi called.

The river was the {2-Clubs}, and Wellnitz checked to Mizzi who tossed out 7,500. Wellnitz called, and Mizzi tabled {k-}{q-}. Wellnitz opened up {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for trip aces though, and took down the pot.

Dudani Makes the Call

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

We caught the action on the turn as the chips were being pulled in. Shiva Dudani called a bet that appeared to be around 9,700 in position on a board of {6-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. The river was the {4-Spades} and his opponent fired out 21,000 this time. Dudani immediately rolled his eyes, clearly not happy with the situation in front of him. After some thought he made the call and his opponent tapped the table. He showed {k-Spades}{q-Spades} for king-high and Dudani tabled {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}.

With that pot, Dudani is now up to 90,000.

Mandy Baker Bricks to Bust

Amanda Baker
Amanda Baker

We found Amanda Baker all in for around 15,000 on a {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop and her opponent made the call as the players turned up their hands.

Baker: {J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Opponent: {Q-Spades}{9-Hearts}

Baker was behind her opponent’s two pair but drawing to an open-ended straight. The {6-Hearts} on the turn and {2-Hearts} on the river bricked out for her however and she was the latest casualty.

A Few Chip Counts

Mystery Man In White Section

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

We've got a player in the white section with over 240,000 in chips that is refusing to give his name to PokerNews. From what we can gather, the player in the nine seat informed him that it was bad luck to give his name, and if he did he would start running bad. Therefore, for fear of gaining some bad juju, he has refused to disclose his identity to the media. We'll keep you posted on his identity if he decides to change his mind.

Shak Ships It Against Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth opened for 1,900 from early position and action folded around to Dan Shak on the button, who announced he was all in. Both blinds folded and action was back on Hellmuth, who began grinning sheepishly.

"Remeber I'm willing to go all in with both blinds still behind me," Shak said.

"I know Dan, I have a big pair," Hellmuth replied. "I know you've got ace-king, kings, queen, or jacks."

Hellmuth continued to tank as the media swarmed around his table.

"I guess I'm just not that kind of player," Hellmuth said. He then folded {10-}{10-} face up.

"You were right the first time," Shak said, revealing {A-}{K-}. "Next time I'll have the jacks."

"Next time, I'll have the aces," Hellmuth replied.

Hellmuth is down to 10,000 while Shak is back up to 110,000 after taking a large hit earlier in the level.
