Traniello & Cunningham Gone

Allen Cunningham
Allen Cunningham

The higher limits are starting to have an impact as there has been a flurry of eliminations in the last few minutes. Unfortunately we didn't catch the hands, but we can confirm that both Allen Cunningham and Marco Traniello have been eliminated from the tournament, the latter being dispatched by 2010 WSOP Player of the Year Frank Kassela.

More For Friedman

Perry Friedman is on quite a little charge here during these two levels. We joined him in a heads-up pot with Frank Kassela.

Friedman: (x-x) / {A-Spades} {5-Spades} {4-Clubs} {4-Hearts} / (x)
Kassela: (x-x) / {7-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {6-Clubs} {9-Hearts} / (x)

Kassela was the completer on third street, and he called a raise from Friedman. Friedman got bets in on fourth, sixth, and seventh streets with Kassela check-calling.

Friedman: {A-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} / {A-Spades} {5-Spades} {4-Clubs} {4-Hearts}

Aces up are good for Friedman, and he's continuing his charge up the leaderboard. That pot takes him back up to about 57,000, and he's now right behind Kassela and above the chip average.

Volpe Vanquished

Paul Volpe was down to 900 chips earlier today, but he managed to run that back up to around 15,000 or so the last time we checked. On this check-in, though, Volpe and his chip stack have disappeared, and we think it's safe to assume he's busto.

Trip Aces Out of Nowhere

Shuan Deeb
Shuan Deeb

Just before the level up we picked up the action on the turn when Jeffrey Yass check-called a bet from Shaun Deeb. This would be repeated on every street, which resulted in Deeb having the vast majority of his stack in the pot. Luckily for him, his well-disguised trip aces was good and he took down the monster pot.

Deeb: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{A-Hearts} / {8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Yass: (x-x) / {6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades} / (x)

Billirakis Bounced

We joined this three-way on fourth street.

Michael Sigel: (x-x) / {9-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {4-Hearts} / (x)
Steve Billirakis: (x-x) / {9-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} / (x)
Max Pescatori: (x-x) / {K-Spades} {3-Spades} {3-Clubs} {8-Clubs} / (x)

Pescatori did the betting on fourth street, and Michael Sigel called all in. Steve Billirakis called too, and he was getting short on chips by that point, too. On fifth, Pescatori bet, and Billirakis raised to put himself all in. The rest of the boards were run out, and the hands looked like this:

Sigel: {10-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} / {9-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {4-Spades}
Billirakis: {K-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {3-Hearts} / {9-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}
Pescatori: {K-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {2-Spades} / {K-Spades} {3-Spades} {3-Clubs} {8-Clubs}

Sigel won the main pot with his straight, and Pescatori took the side pot with his kings up. Billirakis couldn't beat either of those hands, and he's been exiled to the rail.

Sigel managed to get back close to 11,000 with that triple up, but he was eliminated just moments later.

Put Up Your Dukes

Annie Duke
Annie Duke

After Annie Duke completed with the {10-Diamonds}, Bryn Kenney raised with the {A-Clubs}. The rest of the players got out of the way and Duke not only called that bet, she called a bet on the turn as well. Then, when she took the lead on fifth, she led out and it was Kenney's turn to call. That action repeated itself on sixth before both players checked seventh.

Duke: {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} / {10-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{10-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Kenney: (x-x) / {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{3-Hearts} / (x)

Duke rolled over two pair and it was good enough to win as Kenney simply mucked.

Schulman's Favorite Color is Violette

Nick Schulman completed with the {Q-Spades} and was called by the player in Seat 5 and Cyndy Violette, who showed the {8-Hearts} and {9-Diamonds} respectively. All three players proceeded to check the turn before Seat 5 checked fifth street. Violette took the opportunity to fire out a bet, Schulman called and Seat 5 got out of the way.

Schulman then led out on sixth and Violette called. Seventh saw Schulman bet yet again, but this time Violette opted to give up the hand.

Schulman: (x-x) / {Q-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} / (x)
Violette: (x-x) / {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{J-Clubs}{K-Hearts} / (x)
Seat 5: (x-x) / {8-Hearts}{9-Spades}{A-Clubs} fold

Traniello Finds a Pot

Frank Kassela
Frank Kassela

Lee Goldman completed with the {A-Clubs}, and he found action from Marco Traniello (with the {10-Diamonds}) and Frank Kassela (with the {2-Spades}). Goldman drew the {9-Diamonds} and check-folded on fourth street.

Traniello: (x-x) / {10-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {6-Hearts} / (x)
Kassela: (x-x) / {2-Spades} {4-Spades} {2-Hearts} {9-Clubs} / (x)

Traniello bet fourth street and called a raise from Kassela, but he fired right back out when he paired up on fifth. Kassela called that bet and another one on sixth street before they check-checked through seventh.

Traniello showed up {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} / {10-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {6-Hearts}, and his queens up were good.

Kassela flashed his {8-Spades} {9-Spades} and said, "Flush draw. Every spade was live, too. Not one dead spade."

Live or not, he couldn't find a fifth one, and that loss has set him back to about 43,000.
