Philip Tom is the latest addition to the rail and we were there to catch all the action during the hand in which he was eliminated.
It all started when Matt Szymaszek opened it up from middle position. Matthew Woodward re-raised from the cutoff and Philip Tom called all-in from the big blind. Szymaszek made the call and Tom would watch the two players take to a flop.
On the flop, Szymaszek checked and then called the bet of Woodward. The hit the turn and the same actions occured as a landed on the river. This time both players checked and Szymaszek turned over , which was enough to take down the pot and send Tom to the rail.
Matt Keikoan has become the first elimination since our table redraw. Just a reminder, it is the top 18 players who will go home with some cash for their time.
Terrence Chan is no longer leading the field at the moment, but he still right up there. We recently watched Quite a large pot go in the opposite direction of Chan, something we are not too accustomed to seeing tonight.
The hand started when Jesse Martin opened the pot from under the gun. A middle-position Samuel Golbuff then three-bet, before Chan made it another bet on Golbuff's direct left. Both players called Chan's raise and a flop was dealt.
Flop:
The play was checked to Chan on the flop and he fired out a bet. Martin folded his hand and Golbuff put in the check-raise. Chan called and a was dealt on the turn. Golbuff bet and Chan called, the same as what occurred on the river. When Golbuff tabled his , it was enough to see Chan's cards into the muck as Golbuff now finds himself near the top of the chip counts.
Terrence Chan's chip stack will not stop growing. Recently Chan took down another pot against Samuel Golbuff. It started when Golbuff opened the button. Chan was in the big blind and made the call as a flop hit the felt. Chan opted to check call and then did the same on the turn. The was on the final card on the board and would see both players check. Chan turned over his , the pair of nines enough to take down the pot.
Chan has had a remarkable World Series of Poker so far, with five cashes already on his record. His deepest run came in Event 11: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha where Chan bowed out in 26th place. He will be looking to do better in this event and see a WSOP gold bracelet added to his resume, along with cracking over $1 million tournament winnings.
Dario Alioto has recently been seen exiting the tournament area. We didn't quite catch his bust-out hand, but we can tell you that Alioto held when he was all-in and Matt Glantz held and spiked a jack.
Picking up the action on a flop, Melissa Burr checked to Andrew Prock who bet. Annie Duke folded, Burr called, and the hit the turn. Another Burr check-call led to the river. Burr checked again, Prock bet, but this time Burr put in a raise. Prock called, but snickered a bit when he saw his for a turned set had been run down by Burr's for a rivered straight.
