Richey Ain't Dead Yet!

Stud

Brett Richey came back from break with just 4,000 chips, but he's not done yet! He won two pots in a row, and is back up to 55,000 chips.

Brett Richey{x-}{x-} / {6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds} / {x-}
Patrik Antonius{x-}{x-} / {A-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{10-Spades} / {x-}
David Oppenheim{x-}{x-} / {9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades} / {x-}

Richey was all in and Antonius bet fourth street, Oppenheim called. On fifth Oppenheim called another bet, and Antonius checked to him on sixth. Oppenheim now bet himself and Antonius called. Seventh street got checked.

Oppenheim showed {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for two pair and took the side pot, but Richey showed {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{J-Spades} for a full house in order to stay alive. On the next hand Richey doubled up again when he made an ace-high flush in Stud on fifth street against David Chiu who started with split queens.

Phil Ivey Hurting

The turn was the {J-Spades} and Ivey check-raised, Cassidy called. The river was the {10-Diamonds}, and Ivey bet again. Cassidy decided to put in a raise and Ivey folded his hand.

Defending Champion Goes Home

Brian Rast no more
Brian Rast no more

Omaha-8

Defending champion Brian Rast was all in preflop and up against Ben Yu. Rast had only turned over three of his cards to show the {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{x-}. Yu had the {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{2-Clubs}.

The board ran out {K-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and Yu had a pair of kings with an ace kicker for high with the nut low. Rast didn't look at his fourth card until the river, but found nothing he could use to get any of the pot and claimed it was a jack. Yu scooped the pot and sent the defending champion out the door.

With Rast's elimination, it is now guaranteed there will be no back-to-back winner of this event, although previous champion Micahel "The Grinder" Mizrachi still remains.

Doyle Teaches Bloch a Lesson

Pot-Limit Omaha

On a {6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} flop Doyle Brunson bet 30,500, and Andy Bloch dropped in a stack of chips, enough to put his opponent all in. Brunson called for a total of 92,000.

Doyle Brunson{3-Spades}{6-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Andy Bloch{5-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{A-Spades}

The turn was the {9-Spades}, giving Bloch a straight, but the {10-Diamonds} on the river gave Bloch a bigger straight.

"Let that be a lesson to you," Brunson said with a smile as he raked in his new chips.
