Day 2 Completed
After ten more hours of exciting Limit Hold’em play, Paul Berende is the chip leader of Event 48: $3,000 Limit Hold’em with 331,500. His nearest competitor – Kenny Hsiung – trails by nearly 90,000 chips.
Day 2 began with 126 of the original 247 entrants, and Sam Barnhart started the day as our chip leader. Joining him at the top of the counts were Chad Brown, Ray Henson, Maria Ho, and Jimmy Fricke, but unfortunately, only three of those players made the money.
Barnhart and Fricke were among the 99 players who fell short of the money, and no one exited quicker than Daniel Negreanu. On one of the first hands of the day, Negreanu was all in holding two tens. His opponent called him with , and the board ran out
, eliminating Kid Poker from the tournament.
“I’m tweeting that one,” Negreanu joked after the hand. “That was funny.”
Following Negreanu out the door were dozens of notables, including Humberto Brenes, Ronnie Bardah, Aubin Cazals, Jarred Solomon, Al Barbieri, and Leonid Bilokur.
Hand-for-hand play began in the middle of Level 16, and lasted an hour and twenty minutes. Ultimately, twenty-four hands later, Jesse Martin burst the bubble when he was all in with in the big blind. Cary Marshall and Chek Shen had him at risk, and there was betting on the side with the board reading
. Marshall was forced out, and Shen rolled over
for just ace-high. It held as the
completed the board, and Martin left empty-handed.
As soon as the bubble burst, we lost Maria Ho, David Steicke, and Michael Shelton. No more than twenty minutes later, we also lost Sok Cheng, Jeff Shulman, Chek Shen, Yakov Kirsch, and Jeramy Govert.
Twenty players will return tomorrow at 2 p.m. local time , and a full list of chip counts can be found below. Be sure to check back then.
Good night from Las Vegas!

Jonathan Duhamel opened with a raise from late position and a short-stacked Maria Ho peeked down at her cards in the big blind while laughing.
"I just have to make sure I'm live," said Ho before moving all in. Duhamel called and showed . Ho was indeed live with her
.
Unfortunately for Ho, the board ran out and she was sent home with a min-cash to her name.
Also quickly eliminated once the bubble burst were David Steicke and Michael Shelton.
