Dato's Straight Good Against Vedes

Action folded to Tommy Vedes in the cutoff and he raised to 35,000. Andrea Dato was in the big blind and opted to defend, which lead to both players checking the {9-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop. When the {J-Hearts} turned, Dato took the initiative and led out for 46,000, Vedes called, and the {K-Clubs} was put out on the river.

This time Dato came out with a bet of 105,000, which Vedes called. Dato rolled over {Q-Spades}{10-Spades} for a straight, and it was good as Vedes simply mucked.

Conway Eliminates Garcia

Andres Garcia on Day 2.
Andres Garcia on Day 2.

Jason Wheeler opened to 34,000 from early position and directly behind him, Andres Garcia moved all in for his last 300,000. Action folded around to Thomas Conway on the button, who moved all in himself. Everyone else, including Wheeler, got out of the way and hands were revealed.

Conway: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Garcia: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

Garcia was primed to double; however, the {10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} board left Conway with the nut-flush and Garcia was sent to the rail.

Conway is up to 1,070,000.

Vedes Takes Another Hit; Doubles Ngai

After action folded to him in the small blind, Sam Ngai raised to 32,000 only to have Tommy Vedes move all in from the big. Ngai snap-called off for 182,000 total and was in great shape to double.

Showdown
Ngai: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}
Vedes: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

The {6-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop was lackluster, and the {6-Clubs} turn left Vedes drawing dead. The {5-Hearts} was put out on the river, and Ngai was pushed the 380,000 pot.

Conway Eliminates Another; Raskin Latest Victim

Conway: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Raskin: {A-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

The board ran out {10-Hearts}{2-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Conway sent Raskin to the rail with a set of queens.

Conway is now up to 1,320,000.

Vedes Doubles Through the Decano

Tommy Vedes, who has taken a couple of hits as of late, moved all in from the hijack for 100,000, which Thiago "xTHEDECANOx" Nishijima called from the big blind after tanking for a bit.

Showdown
Vedes: {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Nishijima: {K-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Vedes was ahead with ace high, and the {9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop kept him there. The {9-Diamonds} turn meant Nishijima needed either a king or eight on the river to dispatch his foe, but it wasn't in the cards as the {3-Diamonds} peeled off on the river. With that, Vedes is up to 224,000 while Nishijima dropped to 170,000.

Lichtenberger Crippled; Then Eliminated

Andrew Lichtenberger
Andrew Lichtenberger

In the first hand, Andrew Lichtenberger opened from the button and was met with an all-in shove by Jason Wheeler in the big blind for just under 400,000. Lichtenberger thought it over and opted to call.

Lichtenberger: {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Wheeler: {Q-Spades}{10-Spades}

The board ran out {7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}, giving Wheeler the double up with a pair of queens and knocking Lichtenberger down to his last 130,000.

On the very next hand, Joseph Cheong opened from under-the-gun and it was folded around to Lichtenberger in the cutoff, who went all in. It was folded back to Cheong, who called to put Lichtenberger at risk.

Cheong: {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Lichtenberger: {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

The {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} board gave Cheong a winning flush on the river and knocked Lichtenberger out of the tournament.

Oh, Mann!

Action folded to Jason Mann in the cutoff and he open-shipped for 240,000. The button got out of the way, but Tommy Vedes made the call from the small blind, putting most of his stack at risk in the process.

Showdown
Mann: {A-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Vedes: {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

It was a classic race, but according to our PokerNews Odds Calculator, Vedes has a 55.7% chance of winning the hand.

The {7-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop actually delivered Mann an open-ended straight to go with his overs, but because Vedes killed two of his outs his odds of winning were just 32.83%. That dropped even further to 20.45% on the {4-Diamonds} turn, while the {7-Diamonds} river put an end to Mann's deep run.

Former November Niner Eliminates Ausmus

Matt Giannetti, who if you recall finish fourth in last year's Main Event, opened for 35,000 from early position and cleared the field all the way to Jeremy Ausmus in the big blind. A call was made, the flop fell {J-Hearts}{K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}, and Ausmus proceeded to check-raise all in for 175,000 after Giannetti had bet 46,000. The former November Niner made the call and showed the nuts.

Showdown
Giannetti: {A-Spades}{10-Spades}
Ausmus: {10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Despite running into the nuts, Ausmus held a flush draw and could still chop with an ace. Unfortunately for him, both the turn and river would blank and he was eliminated from the tournament.

Lee Runs Into Rockets; Eliminated

Joseph Cheong opened from the cutoff and directly behind him, Thomas Conway announced a three-bet to 72,000. Directly behind *him,* Ronald Lee announced he was all in for his last 300,000 from the small blind. Panayote Vilandos then announced he was also all in from the big blind. Cheong and Conway got out of the way and hands were revealed.

Lee: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Vilandos: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}

The board ran out {K-}{K-}{K-}{2-}{10-} and Vilandos' aces held to knock Lee out.
