Calvin Anderson just raised under the gun, after which the action was folded to Christophe De Meulder. The Belgian pro three-bet from the cutoff to 2,800 and, and the button and blinds folded.
Anderson put in a four-bet to 6,600, but De Meulder wasn't done with the hand. He five-bet to 12,600 and took down the pot without showdown.
De Meulder is off to a good start, but Anderson still has him covered.
2009 Main Event Champion Joe Cada opened for 1,200 from under the gun and was called by the player directly behind him and the player in the small blind. Todd Burgers then re-popped it to 4,000 from the big blind. Cada flatted, but the other two folded for a heads-up pot.
The flop came and Burgers fired 5,600 into the middle. Cada grimaced and slid his hand into the muck - conceding the pot to Burgers.
Cada has slipped a bit since the day began, however, he is still in great shape with 113,000.
Viktor "Isildur1" Blom has been active as usual throughout Level 6, involved in hands nearly every time we've passed by his table today. Here are a couple of recent ones involving the swingy Swede.
In the first the board read and there was about 5,000 in the middle when a middle position player pushed out a bet of 2,000 and Blom quickly called from late position. The river then brought the and a check from Blom's opponent. Blom quickly fired 6,300, and his opponent didn't waste much time before saying he was calling.
Blom watched his opponent turn over for aces, and Blom patted the felt, acknowledging his opponent's call before pushing his cards to the dealer.
That hand had knocked Blom back down under the 100,000-chip mark, but soon after he was at it again, this time raising to 1,100 from middle position. Timothy Adams then reraised to 3,000 from a couple of seats over, and when it folded back to Blom he called.
The flop came . Blom checked, Adams bet 3,100, and Blom called. The turn brought the , and again Blom check-called a bet from Adams, this time for 8,000.
The river was the . Blom checked one more time, and Adams fired yet again, pushing out 19,300. Blom tanked for some time, then called, tabling . His nines were good, as Adams had but
Three players including Ari Engel were looking down at a flop of . Two fists tapped the table and it was on Engel. Engel bet 3,500 and received two calls.
Fourth street was the and both players checked to Engel once again. Engel's second bullet was for 7,500 and two calls were tossed into the middle. Fifth street paired the board with the and it checked around to Engel for a third time. He moved 15,000 into the middle and the small blind called. The other player got out of the way and Engel tabled for sevens full of tens. His opponent mucked and Engel dragged the pot.
Engel is currently sitting on a stack of about 145,000.
Rebhi Attiyah and Phil Galfond were heads up on a board of . Attiyah checked, and Galfond tossed out 5,150. Attiyah called.
The completed the board and Attiyah checked again. Galfond tanked, then grabbed a variety of chips, tossing out 13,500. Attiyah committed three orange T5,000 chips, making the call, and Galfond tabled two red jacks.
Attiyah mucked his hand, and Galfond is above 100,000 chips.
Scott Clements and Doyle Brunson were recently moved from the Pavilion Room over into the Brasilia Room. Almost as quickly as Clements sat down, we noticed he was up out of his chair and making his way out of the tournament room. Brunson, on the other hand, is doing just fine as a rail of fans is steadily growing.
Gus Hansen raised it up to 1,000 in early position, and the button called. The player in the small blind raised it up to 5,000, and Hansen came along. The button folded, and the two players went heads up to the flop. They both checked the flop of , and they both checked the on the turn. The river brought the , and the small blind checked to Hansen, who fired out 5,500. His opponent called, and Hansen rolled over . However, his opponent tabled for a winning pair of kings.
After that hand, Hansen drops back down to 56,000.
Shannon Shorr raised from middle position and made it 1,300 to see the flop. Johnny Chan called from the button and action was then on Randy Lew. Lew three-bet to 6,100. The big blind folded and it was Shorr's turn again. Shorr took about 25 seconds deciding what he wanted to do, but in the end made the call. Chan got out of the way and it was heads up to the flop.
The flop came bringing with it a bet of 5,025 from Lew. Shorr sat motionless for a good minutes before ultimately throwing out a call. The dealer then pounded the table and let loose the on the turn. It was here that Lew continued to be the aggressor and bet 11,325. Shorr again took his time stoic in thought and after about a minute he threw it away.
