Nadell Knocks One Out

Brian Nadell recently eliminated a player when both players flopped a set. Nadell's {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} crushed his opponent's {6-}{6-} on a flop of {k-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{6-Spades}, and the turn and river came {j-Diamonds}, {2-Hearts} respectively.

Nadell is now over the century mark with 150,000 chips.

Bokor Busto

Stephen Bokor was one of the many players participating in the Onnit Last Sticker Standing Contest, but alas for Bokor his chance at being the last Onnit sticker-wearing player standing — and recipient of a $5,000 cash prize — has ended here in Level 9.

In his last hand, Bokor watched a player raise to 2,000 from early position and get one caller from a seat over. It folded to Bokor who reraised all in for 14,700, and one of the two remaining players called him.

Bokor looked in decent shape with {A-Clubs}{K-Spades} versus his opponent's {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. He was still fine through the {4-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop and {8-Hearts} turn. But the river brought the {Q-Clubs} to pair his opponent and send Bokor railward.

Melanie and Maurice

Melanie Weisner
Melanie Weisner

When we arrived at Maurice Hawkin's and Melanie Weisner's table, there was a {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}{9-Spades}{j-Clubs}{3-Clubs} board already out on the felt and around 10,000 already in the pot. Hawkins had led out of 6,500 and it was on Wesiner to act. After thinking for several moments, Weisner went with a call. When Hawkins tabled {a-Spades}{7-Spades}, his pair of aces were strong enough to send Wesiner's cards into the muck. With that, Wesiner is down to under 20,000 in chips.

Count Orangeula

Here are some counts from the Orange Section.

Volpe Drops a Few, Still Healthy

Paul Volpe
Paul Volpe

Paul Volpe opened with a raise to 2,400 from early position and saw two opponents call him, one from middle position and the other from the cutoff.

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Volpe led for 3,300, the middle position player called, and the cutoff folded. Both of the remaining players then checked the {4-Diamonds} turn.

The river brought the {9-Spades} and a check from Volpe. His opponent fired 6,000, and Volpe called. His opponent then tabled {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} for aces and fours, and Volpe mucked.

Volpe still has a healthy 200,000-plus chip stack, though, as he has for much of the late afternoon and evening.

Harder Takes a Hit

It folded around to Christian Harder in the small blind who raised to 2,500, then the player sitting next to him in the big blind reraised to 6,000. Harder then pushed it up to 50,000, and his opponent called for 32,800 total.

Harder had {K-Spades}{J-Clubs} and his opponent {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}, and when the board came {Q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, Harder took a hit to his stack.

Kenneth Kessler's Kings

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Kenneth Kessler and Ari Engel were heads up with the board reading {6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. Kessler tossed out 12,500, and Engel made the call.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds}, and Kessler moved all in for 42,700. Engel went into the tank.

"I think you have the best hand," he told Kessler, who laughed. "I'm either going to give you way too much respect, or way too little respect."

By this point, the ESPN camera crew was at the table, filming the action.

"Now I'm embarrassed," Engel announced.

Finally, he folded, but he held onto the cards.

"Do you want to both show for the cameras?" Engel asked.

"You go first," Kessler told him.

"You promise you'll show as well?" Engel shot back.

Kessler nodded, and Engel turned over {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}. Kessler turned over {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}, much to the delight of Engel.

"Wow," he blurted. "Nice hand."

Soulier Slips

Three players saw a flop come {K-Hearts}{4-Spades}{J-Spades}, and Fabrice Soulier began things with a bet of about 5,000 into the 14,500 pot. It folded to a late position player who raised all in for about 22,000 total, and after pausing just a beat, Soulier called.

Soulier had {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for top pair, but his opponent had the better hand with {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds} for two pair. The turn was the {4-Clubs} and river the {10-Spades}, and Soulier has slipped below 30,000.
