Lacay Loves The River

We caught the action on the flop, which read {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. Ludovic Lacay was heads up with another opponent, and Lacay check called a bet of 1,400. Both players checked when the {6-Clubs} hit the turn, and the river came the {9-Diamonds}. Lacay fired out 5,000, and after about 20 seconds, his opponent tossed in the call.

Lacay immediately rolled over {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for a rivered two pair, and his opponent mucked. After that hand, Lacay is up to 68,000.

Sylvia With a Stack

While perusing around the Gold Section of the Brasilia Room, we noticed that a young gentleman named Jesse Sylvia had amassed a stack of about 295,000 chips. His biggest worry was that his parents were able to track his progress however.

"Just write 'Hi Wayne,'" he told us.

Well Wayne, your son is among the chip leaders here on Day 2c of the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event, and battling for more than $8.5 million.

Allen Snaps Up More Chips

Jeremy Allen limped in from under the gun, and it folded around to the button who raised his short stack all in. The blinds folded, and Allen called immediately, flipping over {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}. His opponent had {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}, and five cards later Allen's aces remained best and another player hits the rail.

"Snapping turtle!" said Ronnie Bardah, sitting to Allen's left and remarking on the quickness of Allen's call. "I had to play it that way," said Allen. "Y'all folding to my raises."

With or without showdowns, Allen continues to win hands and chip up as Day 2c wears on.

Luske Loots A Lot

The action was opened by the player in the under-the-gun plus one position. Marcel Luske was on his direct left when he three-bet to 4,800. Folded back around to the aggressor and they made the call.

The {k-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop would see the play checked to Luske, who bet 7,000. A call would usher in the {7-Spades} on the turn. This time when Luske's opponent checked, Luske would bet 17,000. This amount was enough to send Luske's opponent into the tank. Eventually he decided to fold and sent the pot to Luske.

"I think you folded ace-king," said Luske as he raked in the pot.

For your information, Luske is the all-time Dutch tournament earner, having just shy of $4 million in winnings on his resume. That includes two very deep runs in the Main Event in both 2003 and 2004.

Schwartz Puts on the Pressure

A player in middle position made it 2,100 to see the flop. Next to act was recent bracelet winner Ylon Schwartz who three-bet to 4,500. The rest of the table folded around to the initial raiser and he made the call.

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{4-Spades}{10-Spades} prompting a bet of 10,000 from the middle position player. Schwartz's response was to move all in, a bet that would put his shorter stacked opponent all in. A few minutes passed and no action was made, so someone at the table called clock. The floor was called over and the middle position player was given one minute to act. After about 20 seconds the middle position player folded and Schwartz was awarded the pot.

McTaggart Moving Up

Paul McTaggart began today with a healthy plus-150,000 chip stack, and has been steadily adding to it all afternoon and early evening.

Just now McTaggart was raising again from early position — to 2,000 — and getting a single caller in the big blind. The pair checked the {Q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop and {J-Spades} turn, then when checked to after the {K-Diamonds} river, a McTaggart bet was enough to claim the small pot.

He's climbed up over 280,000 now, one of the bigger stacks in the Purple section of the Amazon Room.

Haddox Playing Power Poker

Randy Haddox started this day as the chip leader and it seems there is no end in sight for the growth of his stack.

We caught up to see Haddox raise to 2,500 before the flop and receive a call from the player in the cutoff. The dealer produced a flop of {A-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Haddox continued for 3,600.

His opponent from the cutoff thought for a while before making it 11,200 total. Haddox wasted no time plopping a stack of orange t5,000 chips into the center of the table. This bet was enough to put Haddox's opponent all in as he only had 21,100 behind. Haddox's opponent quickly shot his hand away and Haddox was able to increase his chip lead even further.

Affleck Loses Some To Luu

A player in the hijack seat opened to 2,200 and Matt Affleck three-bet to 4,600 on the button. It was then folded to John Luu in the big blind, who re-popped it to 7,500 total. The original raiser folded and Affleck tossed in a call.

The flop came {8-Clubs}{3-Spades}{6-Spades} and Luu quickly bet 10,000. Affleck paused and then slid his hand into the muck.

Affleck is down to 33,000.

Jewell of a Turn for Cody

Jake Cody now among the chip leaders
Jake Cody now among the chip leaders

Kurt Jewell and Jake Cody were heads up on a flop of {9-Spades}{7-Hearts}{j-Hearts}. Jewell checked out of the big blind, and Jake Cody tossed out 7,200 from the hijack seat. Jewell called.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds}, and Jewell checked again. Cody reached for a gaggle of multi-colored chips, plopping 14,900 in front of him. Jewell cooly flipped three orange T5,000 chips forward, making the call.

The {6-Diamonds} completed the board, and Jewell checked a third and final time. Cody fired a third bullet worth 35,000, and Jewell immediately called. Cody turned over {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a turned straight.

"Nice hand," Jewell told him.

Cody's now over 200,000 chips, while Jewell slipped to 140,000.
