Samer Lays Down the Hammer

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Moments ago, Samer Al-Shurieki flopped the nut flush to crippled Dominik Nitsche.

Douglas Mackinnon opened from the cutoff to 22,000 and Nitsche three-bet to 48,000 from the small blind. Al-Shurieki woke up in the big blind with an all-in bet of 220,000, and once Mackinnon folded Nitsche quickly called.

Nitsche: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}
Al-Shurieki: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}

The {5-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} was the home to more clubs that the Las Vegas party scene and when the turn and river were the {7-Diamonds} and {10-Diamonds} Al-Shurieki helped himself to the vast majority of Nitsche's stack.

Ivey raised from middle position to 20,000 and Daniel Idema reraised to about 56,000 from the button. Joseph Dibiasi went all in from the small blind and Taylor Paur, the big blind, and Ivey folded. Idema called with {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} and Dibiasi had {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}.

The board fell {q-Clubs}{3-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Idema's jacks held, eliminating Dibiasi in 17th place.

Epner Doubles

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

James Epner called in the big blind when Adam Sanders raised. The two took a flop of {a-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. The two checked.

They took a turn of the {6-Clubs}. Epner then check-raised all in when Sanders made a bet of 25,000. Sanders made the call and the cards were flipped.

Sanders: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Epner: {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

Epner held two pair and only a queen would knock him out. The river was the {8-Diamonds} and Epner doubled up.

Colbrese Doubles Again

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

We stated that Nick Colbrese needed to double up again sooner rather than later if he wanted to win some gold here and he has just done that.

He pushed for 80,000 with {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and was looked up by Samer Al-Shurieki and his {4-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. By the river the board read {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{k-Hearts} and Colbrese continues to climb.

Mackinnon Gets Fortunate Against Deppe

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Sometimes you need a little luck in order to win a poker tournament, well Douglas Mackinnon has just had a huge slice of luck to stay alive in this one.

Mackinnon's 138,000 chips went into the middle with {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and he was in terrible shape against the pocket rockets ({A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}) of Robert Deppe. Mackinnon stayed way behind as the first three community cards fell {k-Spades}{5-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. However, the {9-Clubs} turn improved Mackinnon to a full house. The {7-Clubs} was the river card and Mackinnon doubled through Deppe.

Jason Everett was short stacked since the cooler hand against Phillip Hui a bit earlier this evening. He shoved his remaining 50,000 with {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and ran into the {q-}{q-} of Kyle Cartwright. Cartwright's queens held, eliminating Everett in 18th place.
