The River Saves Griffin

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Gavin Griffin was all in after a series of bets preflop, and he got calls from three players. The flop came down {8-Spades}{3-Spades}{8-Hearts}, and Donald Yucius fired out. Both Christine Antoniuk and James Manning called, and the same happened on the {7-Clubs} turn. The river was the {j-Diamonds}, and Yucius quickly fired one more time. This time, Antoniuk got out of the way, but Manning called, saying "Merry Christmas" as he did it.

Yucius rolled over {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for the nut low and aces up, and Manning mucked. Once the side pot was shipped to Yucius, Griffin tabled {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for a rivered full house, which was good enough to take half of the main pot. Despite hitting that four outer, Griffin is still short with just 7,500.

Bord Doubles Through Leah

Level 13 : 800/1,500, 0 ante

We caught the action on a {k-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{j-Spades}{q-Diamonds} board when James Bord, who you may recall as the winner of the 2010 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event, bet from the small blind and Mike Leah called.

When the {4-Diamonds} completed the board on the river, Bord bet his last 2,000 and Leah called. Bord tabled the {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{3-Hearts} for the nuts, and it was good as Leah was second best with the {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flopped set.

Meanwhile, Marco Oliveira, Zimnan Ziyard, Gaurav Kalro and Chris Swan have all been eliminated from the tournament.

Plenty of Extras Being Given Away at This Year's WSOP

Level 13 : 800/1,500, 0 ante

The buzz inside the walls of the Rio extends beyond just the tournaments on the 2013 World Series of Poker schedule. Online poker in Nevada is a very, very hot topic right now, and WSOP.com is making a lot of noise.

While the site has yet to launch, you can head to the Lambada Room of the Rio or look for one of the beautiful and friendly WSOP.com ladies walking the hallways to sign up for a free, personal WSOP.com online poker account. This is a great way to get a jump on the site's registration, and plenty of people have already taken this opportunity.

What's more is that the WSOP will be hosting daily raffles for everyone that has taken the time to register for WSOP.com at the Rio. What can you win? Plenty of fantastic prizes including 36 WSOP seats!

Players 21 years of age and older who sign up for a WSOP.com account will automatically be entered into the “36-Seat Giveaway” where a randomly-selected winner will win a seat into the next day’s first WSOP gold bracelet event. One of the events eligible in this promotion is the $111,111 One Drop High Roller No-Limit Hold’em tournament that is expected to feature a $10,000,000 prize pool and allow you to play poker with the biggest names in the game. In total, $182,333 in WSOP seats, including a seat to the WSOP Main Event, are being given away during this one-of-a-kind WSOP.com promotion.

In addition to the 36-Seat Giveaway, a “Hot Seat” promotion will allow any player who signs up for a WSOP.com online account and wears their WSOP.com patch on their chest at the table while playing an event to be randomly selected to receive 500 bonus dollars deposited directly into their WSOP.com online account once the site has received all regulatory approvals and launches.

With 62 WSOP gold bracelet events and three winners promised for the Main Event, this promotion includes $32,000 worth of value to those participating.

Hastings Scoops Monster Pot

Level 13 : 800/1,500, 0 ante

There were a slew of bets out in front of Brian Hastings and Thayer Rasmussen when we got to the table. The board had completed {j-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}, and Rasmussen checked to Hastings, who fired one more bet. Rasmussen didn't look thrilled when he made the call, and he mucked after Hastings rolled over {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{9-Spades}{k-Spades} for trip threes. Rasmussen mucked, dropping him to 10,000, while Hastings has taken the chip lead, sitting on 91,000.
