Paez Peaces

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Brent Johnson limped in from early position, Raul Paez raised the pot (22,000) in late position, and the action folded back to Johnson, who called.

The flop fell {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Spades}, Johnson checked, and Paez fired out 53,000. Johnson check-raised the pot, going all in, and Paez called.

Paez: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs}
Johnson: {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}

"Come on!" Johnson exclaimed.

The turn was the {j-Hearts}, giving Johnson a leading two pair, and he punched the air. The {8-Clubs} on the river improved his hand to jacks and eights, and sent Paez to the rail. Paez grabbed the cards, and spiked them down onto the felt facedown.

Johnson now sits with 255,000 chips.

On an adjacent table, Jason Rosenberg was eliminated with unknown action.

Randolph Triples, Still In Danger Zone

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Mel Randolph had been nursing a super short stack for quite some time when he finally just put his last 14,000 in before the flop and got two callers in [Removed:424] and Ryan Chapman. Perez and Chapman checked down the {3-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop, {A-Hearts} turn, and {K-Spades} river.

Chapman then showed two of his cards — {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} — but mucked the other two when Randolph turned over {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}{J-Spades}{5-Clubs} for the straight. Perez mucked as well, and Randolph survived, but is still sitting with the shortest stack of those who remain.

Perez Doubles With a Set of Aces

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Flop: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}{8-Hearts}

After a series of bets, [Removed:424] was all in and at risk against Romik Vartzar. Perez rolled over {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for a set of aces, and Vartzar was drawing with {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades}.

The turn and river bricked {4-Diamonds}, {7-Hearts}, and Perez doubled to over 170,000 chips. Vartzar fell to 38,000.

Moura Out

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Brent Johnson just eliminated Leonardo Moura in 40th place after the latter committed his stack with {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}, Johnson went to battle with {Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, and the board came {8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades} to give Johnson a winning straight.

Solomon Soars, Duhamel Declines

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Jarred Solomon
Jarred Solomon

Jonathan Duhamel opened for 6,500 from under the gun, then Jarred Solomon reraised to 28,000 from a seat over. It folded back to Duhamel who called, and the pair saw the flop come {5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. Both checked, then the turn brought the {7-Diamonds} and a bet of 23,000 from Duhamel which Solomon called.

The two players then checked the {Q-Diamonds} on fifth street. "Queens" said Duhamel, to which Solomon responded by tabling his {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Duhamel mucked.

Chips are moving around quickly as usual in PLO events, but with that one it appears Solomon has reassumed first position in the counts where he began Day 2.

A Hand and Counts from Table 444

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Duke Miller and Isaac Hagerling checked on a flop of {9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. William Black tossed out 10,000, Miller called, and Hagerling check-raised to 38,000. Black folded, and Miller moved all in for effectively 125,000. Hagerling tanked for well over three minutes, then folded.

Here are counts from the table.

May Your Cards Be Live and Your Pots Be Monsters (Like Sexton's)

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Mike Sexton
Mike Sexton

Mike Sexton just earned a double-knockout and a significant boost to his chip stack, propelling him near the chip lead of Scott Clements.

The hand saw all of the chips go in on a {7-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop, then the {Q-Spades} turn and {3-Spades} river followed.

Sexton held {8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, having flopped a wrap straight draw and gotten there on fifth street. Sergey Pevzner had {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and ended with two pair. And Timo Pfutzenreuter was also eliminated in the hand, his cards mucked prior to our arrival.

Sexton now sits with nearly 300,000, with Will Failla having just been moved to his left and Phil Hellmuth another seat over.

Schneider Sent Off

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Michael "Carwash" Schneider was all in and at risk with {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} on a board of {9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}. Unfortunately for him, Jared Bleznick held the nut flush with {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}, and a meaningless {q-Clubs} completed the board.

Schneider hit the rail, while Bleznick now has 260,000 chips.
