Yu's Boat Is Bigger

Level 5 : 400/800, 0 ante

We picked up with the action on a board of {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{5-Hearts} to find Ben Yu check-raise David Chiu. Chiu called to see the final card.

The {9-Hearts} struck the river and the exact river action was unknown, but after a series of bets and raises, Chiu tabled {Q-Spades}{9-Spades} for queens full of nines. It turned out to be the second best hand, however, as Yu rolled over {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} for queens full of aces. Yu dragged in the pot and is now sitting on about 38,000 in chips while Chiu has fallen to around 16,000.

Kuether Rebuilding

Level 5 : 400/800, 0 ante

We arrived at the table to see Joe Kuether put in a third bet on the turn with the board reading {K-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. His lone opponent called the re-raise, and the {10-Diamonds} fell on the river. Kuether bet, his opponent called, and Kuether tabled {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a turned flush.

Despite being low in chips just before the dinner break, Kuether has built his stack back up to 15,500.

Mueller Makes a Set

Level 5 : 400/800, 0 ante

Greg Mueller, who late-registered and recently took his seat at a new table, is already thriving in this tournament. We arrived at the table to hear the dealer say "Three bets" in a hand between Mueller and Eric Froehlich on a flop of {6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. Beyond that unknown action, we found the two heads up to the {10-Spades} on the turn. Mueller checked and Froehlich fired out. Mueller immediately clicked it back and Froehlich flat called.

Mueller fired one last bet after the {K-Diamonds} river and Froehlich called. Mueller showed {3-Spades}{3-Clubs} for a set of treys and Froehlich mucked his cards. Mueller dragged in the pot and is now sitting around about 22,000.

Monnette Busts

Level 5 : 400/800, 0 ante
John Monnette
John Monnette

John Monne raised preflop, and everyone folded except Faith Klimczak, who defended her big blind. The flop came {10-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, and Klimczak checked. Monnette bet, and Klimczak called to see the {5-Spades} fall on the turn. Monnette again bet, this time for his last 700. Klimczak called, putting Monnette at risk, and the players turned up their cards:

Monnette: {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Klimczak: {6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}

Monnette had the lead with his top pair, but Klimczak had a lot of outs with bottom pair and a flush draw. The river was the {q-Diamonds}, giving Klimczak her flush and eliminating Monnette from the tournament.

Kings For Akkari

Level 5 : 400/800, 0 ante
Andre Akkari
Andre Akkari

Mohsin Charania opened with an early position raise only to find Andre Akkari three-bet him from a couple of seats down. It came back around to Charania who called the raise.

The flop came {10-Clubs}{K-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Charania checked. Akkari continued out and Charania called to see fourth street. The dealer rapped the table and produced the {7-Hearts}. Charania checked again and Akkari fired out. Charania called and the {9-Clubs} finished off the board. The action went check, bet, call once more and Akkari showed {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} for a flopped set of kings. Charania mucked his hand and Akkari dragged in the pot. The 2011 WSOP bracelet winner is now sitting on about 41,000 in chips.

Negreanu v. Cassidy

Level 5 : 400/800, 0 ante

Joe Cassidy raised raised preflop, and Daniel Negreanu made it three bets. A third player called, and Cassidy called as well. The dealer spread {4-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{a-Clubs} for the flop, and action checked to Negreanu, who bet out. Only Cassidy called. The turn was the {8-Clubs}, and Cassidy bet out. Negreanu called, and the {2-Clubs} hit the felt on the river. Cassidy bet out again, and Negreanu called. Cassidy tabled {j-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for a flush, and Negreanu mucked.

After the hand, Cassidy was up to 20,500 in chips, while Negreanu fell to 10,000.
