Sexton Flipping Against Alaei

Level 20 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Poker Hall of Famer Mike Sexton moved all in from early position for his last 480,000 and Daniel Alaei called him from the big blind.

Sexton: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Alaei: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Sexton was flipping for his tournament life, and fortunately for him the proverbial coin came down in his favor as the board ran out a harmless {6-Spades}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

Big Slick Does the Trick for Bohn

Level 20 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Bill Perkins raised to 150,000 from early position and then called when Blake Bohn moved all in for 615,000 from the cutoff.

Perkins: {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}
Bohn: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

It was another flip, but not after the flop came down {a-Hearts}{2-Spades}{j-Hearts}. Bohn paired his ace to take a big lead in the hand. The {A-Spades} turn gave Bohn trips, though he really didn't need it, and the {3-Hearts} river gave him the double.

"Leeeeeroyyyy... Oh, Wow"

Level 20 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Bill Perkins opened for 150,000 from the hijack and then called when Jason Koon moved all in for 550,000. Perkins tabled the {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and was racing against the {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} of Koon.

The {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} flop didn't do much for either player, but the {A-Spades} turn did as it gave Perkins, who was clearly excited, the lead with a pair of aces. When the {J-Clubs} completed the board on the river, Perkins celebrated by loudly shouting the famous World of Warcraft line, "Leeeeeroyyyy Jenkins."

About that time the table pointed out that Koon had rivered a straight to win. "Oh, wow," Perkins said as he came crashing down from his high. "Unbelievable, I can't get anything going."

Action Slowing at the Feature Table

Level 20 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

The action has stalled a bit at the feature table with the bubble approaching. In a recent hand, Phil Laak raised to 125,000 out of the hijack seat. Andrew Lichtenberger called, and the two checked it down as the board came {9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}{k-Clubs}. Lichtenberger turned over {a-}{k-}, winning the pot.

Perkins Doesn't Want To Get Tactical with Sexton

Level 20 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

From the button, Mike Sexton raised to 100,000. Bill Perkins defending with a call from the big blind, and the flop came down {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}.

"How much you have left, Mike?" asked Perkins.

"A little over 900,000," responded Sexton. "950,000."

"I'm all in," was the response from Perkins after he heard the amount Sexton had left.

Sexton tossed his hand away and commented on Perkins shoving. "You're all in, huh?"

"What? You think I want to get tactical with you?" said Sexton.

Esfandiari vs. Finger

Level 20 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Antonio Esfandiari opened for 110,000 in early position and received a call from Martin Finger in the small blind. Both players then checked the {3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop, the {J-Clubs} turned and Finger fired out a small bet. Esfandiari called that bet and then called one of 275,000 from Finger on the {2-Clubs} river. Esfandiari tabled the {a-Spades}{4-Hearts} for a pair of fours and it was good as Finger sent his cards to the muck.

#WeNeedIt

Level 20 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Anthony Gregg
Anthony Gregg

Haralabos Voulgaris raised to 110,000 from late position, Anthony Gregg, who three-bet jammed the previous hand, moved all in for 965,000, and the action folded back to Voulgaris, who called.

Voulgaris: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Gregg: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The window card was the {q-Clubs}, giving Voulgaris a set of queens, and it was followed by the {9-Spades} and the {5-Hearts}. The turn was the {10-Diamonds}, giving Gregg a gut-shot straight draw, and he had six outs to survive.

The {k-Spades} was one of them, and when it hit the felt on the river, Calvin Anderson and some other railbirds blurted "Ohhhh!"

Gregg doubled to 2,040,000 chips, while Voulgaris slipped to 810,000.

Chae's Kings Can't Hold

Level 20 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Hyoung Chae opened for 100,000 from the hijack and Matt Glantz called from the button. Both blinds folded, the flop came down {j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and Chae continued for 200,000. Glantz popped it to 500,00, Chae moved all in for 800,000 or so and Glantz called.

Chae: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Glantz: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}

Glantz had flopped top pair but he was still behind the pocket kings of Chae. The {Q-Clubs} turn changed nothing but the {A-Hearts} river did as Glantz spiked two pair to crack Chae's kings and send him to the rail in 27th place.

Koon Squats Esfandiari ... Literally

Level 20 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Jason Koon on Day 1
Jason Koon on Day 1

Blake Bohn raised from early position and then called when Jason Koon three-bet all in from the button for 720,000.

Bohn: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Koon: {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Like we've seen so many times this evening, it was a flip. Koon was the one at risk, so he was understandably excited when the {5-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{k-Clubs} flop paired his king and gave him a commanding lead. In fact, Koon, who is a documented fitness nut, was so excited that he literally picked up Antonio Esfandiari, put him on his shoulders and did three squats.

The {3-Diamonds} turn and {2-Clubs} river kept Koon in the lead, and when after he put Esfandiari back on the ground, he returned to twice as many chips as he'd had just a moment before.

Dealer Forgets To Burn; Shak Gets Second Shot

Level 20 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Dan Shak raised from under the gun, Daniel Alaei moved all in from the hijack seat for around 600,000, and Shak made the call. Shak held the {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, but was behind the {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} for Alaei.

The flop, turn and river ran out {K-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts}{J-Spades}... but wait! The dealer forgot to burn before the river, so Shak actually had a second shot on fifth street to suck out. The {10-Spades} came off, though, and Alaei doubled up.
