Kenney Flushes Sagstrom

Level 16

Limit Hold'em

We noticed the seat formerly occupied by Erik Sagstrom was empty. A quick check with Bryn Kenney confirmed that he had been eliminated.

According to Kenney, he was the one who did the deed. It happened when Sagstrom raised from early position and Kenney three-bet. Sagstrom proceeded to four-bet all in and Kenney made the call.

Kenney: {k-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
Sagstrom: {6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

The {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{2-} flop was kind to Kenney as it paired his deuce and gave him the nut-flush draw, but Sagstrom actually took the lead when a {7-} turned. There were a lot of cards that could give Kenney the lead back on the river, and the {3-Diamonds} was once of them. Kenney made his flush and Sagstrom was sent to the rail here in the last 40 minutes of Day 3.

Pot-Limit Omaha

We're not sure when the money went in the middle, but when we arrived at the table, Adam Friedman was all in and at risk against Mike Leah. The board was completed, and the hands looked like this:

Board: {9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Spades}

Friedman: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Spades}
Leah: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{x-}

Leah won with a set of aces, chipping up to 845,000, while Friedman hit the rail.

Benson Scoops

Level 16

Omaha-8

After nearly scooping an Omaha-8 pot with Stephen Chidwick, during which he had turned a straight and a low only to chop when the Brit hit a flush on the river, Gary Benson received a full double up through Don Nguyen.

Nguyen raised in the cutoff, Benson called in the small blind, then the Aussie check-called another bet on a flop of {3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{9-Clubs}. The turn was the {8-Clubs}, Benson led out, putting himself all in, and Nguyen called.

Benson: {a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Nguyen: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs}

"Ace-five and the nut-flush," Benson said, showing his hand. "You can't stop me from scooping this time."

A meaningless {q-Hearts} completed the board, and Benson doubled.

Big PLO Pot for Hennigan

John Hennigan
John Hennigan

Pot-Limit Omaha

John Hennigan, Justin Smith, and Minh Ly were three handed on a board of {5-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Hennigan checked, Smith fired out 90,000 into a pot of around 120,000, and only Hennigan called.

The {q-Hearts} completed the board, Henningan checked again, and Smith slid out a massive bet of 180,000. Hennigan called, showing {q-Spades}{j-Spades}{j-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, and Smith shook his head before mucking.

Zaichenko & Harman Bounced

Razz

Only two women entered this tournament in Vanessa Selbst and Jennifer Harman. The former was one of the first to go on Day 1, which meant the latter was the last woman standing. Harman had her eyes fixed on a cash, but those hopes came to an end courtesy of Michael Glick in a hand of Razz.

We missed it as it happened, but we learned a few details after the fact. From what we were told by Adam Friedman, Harman got the last of her chips in with 6-4-3 and was up against Glick's 8-3-2. Glick ended up making a 9-8 low and Harman couldn't best it.

Meanwhile, Andrey Zaichenko has also been eliminated from this tournament.

Hachem: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{6-Clubs} to see Hachem dodge and ace, as he doubled to stay alive.

Benyamine Quartered

Level 16

Omaha-8

Adam Friedman raised in middle position, David Benyamine called in the hijack, Tommy Hand called on the button, and Kevin Song defended his big blind. The flop fell {5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, Song checked, Friedman fired out a bet, and Benyamine raised. Hang folded, and both Song and Friedman called.

The turn was the {7-Spades}, the action checked to Benyamine, and he bet. Both Song and Friedman called.

The {6-Spades} completed the board, Song checked, Friedman checked, and Benyamine raised. Only Friedman called.

Friedman: {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}
Benyamine: {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

Both players had the nut low, but Friedman also had a ten-high straight, earning him three-quarters of the pot.
