Ashton Tries a Bluff; Fails

Level 15

Stud-8

Mike Wattel: {x-}{x-} / {2-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs} / {x-}
Joe Hachem: {x-}{x-} / {6-Diamonds}{q-Spades} (FOLD)
Greg Mueller: {x-}{x-} / {j-Hearts}{a-Spades}{3-Clubs}{q-Clubs} / {x-}
Matthew Ashton: {x-}{x-} / {7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} / {x-}

Jonathan Duhamel brought it in, Mueller completed, and Ashton, Wattel and Hachem all called. Mueller led out on fourth street, Ashton raised, and only Wattel and Mueller called.

On fifth street, Wattel made a better board and checked. Mueller bet, and both Ashton and Wattel called. The trio checked on sixth, and Wattel led out on seventh. Mueller called, Ashton raised, and both Wattel and Mueller called.

"Two pair," Ashton said solemnly, knowing his {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades} was no good.

Wattel immediately ripped over {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{5-Spades} for the low, and Mueller showed {j-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for a better two pair.

Benyamine Pays Glick Off

Level 15

No Limit Hold’em

The action folded around to David Benyamine, who made it 20,500 from the small blind. Michael Glick was on the big blind, and after thinking for a moment, made the call, as the two saw the flop come {j-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. Benyamine check called a bet of 20,000, before doing the same for 47,000, when the {2-Diamonds} fell on the turn. With the {9-Spades} completing the board, Benyamine checked for the third time, as Glick reached for some chips, and bet out 112,000. Benyamine tanked for over a minute, before finally making the call, only to muck his hand, when Glick turned over his {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} for top two pair.

"Jack High"

Level 15

No-Limit Hold'em

Tommy Hang opened for 18,000 from the hijack and George Danzer call from the cutoff. The button and blinds folded, and then the flop came out {9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{k-Spades}. Hang bet 25,000, Danzer called and then it went check-check on both the {K-Clubs} turn and {2-Clubs} river.

"Jack high," Hang admitted. Danzer then tabled the {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for queen high and the win.

Set of Queens for the Champ

Level 15

Limit Hold'em

Jonathan Duhamel raised on the button, Matthew Ashton defended his big blind, and the flop fell {7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{q-Spades}. Ashton check-raised Duhamel, who called, and the turn brought the {9-Clubs}. Ashton led out, and this time it was the 2010 Main Event champion who raised, making it two bets. Ashton called.

The river was the {5-Diamonds}, Ashton quickly checked, and Duhamel bet. Ashton called.

Duhamel rolled over {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for a flopped set of queens, raking in the pot.

"That's a good hand to have," Troy Burkholder said, grinning.

Erick Lindgren: {x-}{x-} / {3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{j-Spades} Fold
Mike Leah: {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} / {a-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Spades}{k-Hearts} / {4-Hearts}
Paul Volpe: {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} / {j-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{2-Spades}{4-Spades} {3-Spades}

After Erick Lindgren brought it in and Mike Leah completed, Paul Volpe raised to 30,000.

Lindgren responded by making it 45,000 and Leah bumped it to 60,000. Volpe called off for 52,000 and then Lindgren put in the additional 15,000. Lindgren then called a bet from Leah on fourth before folding to one on fifth.

Leah tabled a pair of aces and all Volpe could say was, "I'm in trouble."

Indeeded he was as he was looking at a gutshot straight draw to a ten. Sixth didn't deliver it and neither did seventh.

"Good luck in the Main," Lindgren said before Volpe collected his things and exited the tournament area.

The board ran out {3-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{q-Spades}{q-Hearts}, to see Nguyen slightly extend his chip lead, as Yitzhaki hit the rail.
