Gray Doubles

Level 11

Stud-8

A very short-stacked Jason Gray was all in on third street, and Mikael Thuritz had him at risk. The boards ran out like this.

Gray: ({4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}) / {9-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} / {7-Spades}
Thuritz: ({5-Spades}{3-Spades}) / {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{6-Clubs} / {a-Hearts}

Gray made a straight, neither player made a low, and Gray received a much-needed double.

Brunson Takes From Hang

Level 11

Limit Hold’em

Doyle Brunson opened from under the gun, before calling a raise from Tommy Hang in the hijack. The flop came down {5-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, and Brunson check-raised a bet from Hang, who called. The {3-Spades} fell on the turn, as Brunson bet out again which was called, before his bet on the {6-Spades} river, was enough to take down the pot.

Anderson Chipping Up

Level 11

Limit Hold'em

Calvin Anderson raised in middle position, Jean Gaspard called, and the flop fell {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. Gaspard check-called a bet, then led out when the {6-Hearts} turned. Anderson raised, and Gaspard called.

The river was the {q-Diamonds}, Gaspard checked, and Anderson tossed out a bet. Gaspard quickly folded.

Despite losing the pot, Gaspard is up a few thousand on the day, while Anderson is up to 360,000.

Former Champ Sentenced to Hang

Level 11
Brian Rast on Day 2.
Brian Rast on Day 2.

Pot-Limit Omaha

Back in 2011, Brian Rast won this event for $1.7 million. As one of only two former champ still in the field (the other is David Bach), Rast is looking to join Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi on becoming just the second players to win the title twice. Unfortunately his chances of doing that just took a big hit.

We caught the action with a little over 200,000 in the pot and a board reading {9-Spades}{4-Clubs}{j-Spades}{a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. Rast was in the small blind and squaring off against Tommy Hang, who was in the big. Rast was first to act and slid out a hefty bet of 200,00 and Hang thought for about 30 seconds before announcing that he was all in for a bit over 400,000 total. Rast only had 132,000 behind and preserved it with a quick fold.

Kelly Looking for More POY Points

Level 11

Pot-Limit Omaha

Lamar Wilkinson opened for 7,000 from middle position and Dan Kelly, who is in contention for the 2013 World Series of Poker Player of the Year, defended from the big blind. The {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{k-Spades} flop saw Kelly check-call a bet of 12,000 and then both players checked the {9-Diamonds} turn.

When the {3-Hearts} completed the board on the river, Kelly checked and Wilkinson bet 22,500. Kelly thought for about 90 seconds before making the call and Wilkinson indicated that it was a good decision. Kelly then tabled the {k-Diamonds}{5-}{3-Clubs}{a-Spades} for two pair and the win.

Singer Eliminated

Level 11

Razz

Roman Yitzhaki: {x-}{x-} / {7-}{4-}{a-}{10-} / {x-}
David Singer: {x-}{x-} / {2-}{10-}{7-}{8-} / {x-}

Alexander Kostritsyn brought it in with a {k-}, Yitzhaki completed, and Singer raised. The action folded back to Yitzhaki, who called. Making a better board on fourth street, Yitzhaki opted to bet out. Singer called, and then called three more bets on fifth, sixth, and seventh. Yitzhaki showed {a-}{6-}{2-} for a seventy-six, and Singer mucked.

Singer was left 8,000 chips, and busted shortly after.

"I'm Definitely Not Winning Right Now"

Level 11

Razz

Shaun Deeb: {x-}{x-} / {2-}{2-} / Fold
Adam Friedman: {x-}{x-} / {7-}{5-}{k-}{5-} / {x-}
Mike Gorodinsky: {x-}{x-} / {3-}{6-}{j-}{q-} / {x-}

After action was brought in and Mike Gorodinsky completed, Shaun Deeb and Adam Friedman both called to see fourth street.

Gorodinsky had the lead and promptly bet, which inspired Deeb, who had paired, to fold and Friedman to call. Friedman proceeded to call bets on fifth and sixth.

"I'm definitely not winning right now," Friedman said headed into seventh. Gorodinsky ended up checking and Friedman squeezed out his last card before declaring, "Ten."

He then tabled {10-}{a-}{8-} for a 10-8-7-5-A low and the win.

Chen vs. Benson

Level 11

Omaha-8

Bill Chen raised to 12,000 under the gun only to have Australian Gary Benson three-bet to 18,000 from the hijack. The rest of the field folded, Chen called and it was heads-up action to the {9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop.

Chen check-called a bet of 6,000, the {2-Spades} turned and Chen led out for 12,000. Benson made the call and then watched Chen fire an additional 12,000 on the {3-Spades} river. Benson spent about a minute mulling over the decision and ultimately decided to lay down his hand.

Chen then flashed a {2-} and claimed, "With a low."

Kenney Scoops

Level 11

Omaha-8

Chris Klodnicki and Bryn Kenney were heads up on a flop of {2-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{a-Clubs}. Klodnicki bet, Kenney raised, and Klodnicki called. Both players knuckled when the {5-Spades} turned, and the {2-Clubs} completed the board. Klodnicki check-called a bet from Kenney.

"Full house and a live eight," Kenney said, showing {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}.

Klodnicki shook his head, held onto his cards for an extra 15 seconds or so, then tossed them into the muck.
