Hall Scores a KO to Double

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante

Galen Hall was on the button, three-betting to 2,300 over a 1,000-raise from early position. Hall's neighbor in the small blind cold-called and the action returned to the initial aggressor who moved all in for 17,800. Hall reshoved for 20,300 total and the small blind left the party.

Hall dominated his opponent with {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} against {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and the {2-Spades}{2-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{7-Hearts} board sealed his victory, allowing him to double his stack while the other player said the obligatory "good game" and walked away.

Sinclair Sends Chen to the Rail

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante
Jack Sinclair
Jack Sinclair

Action was on the river and James Chen was first to act from the small blind. The board was {2-Spades}{2-Hearts}{J-Spades}{3-Spades}{A-Diamonds} and Chen checked over to Jack Sinclair who was on the button. Sinclair put out a bet of 15,000 into the pot of 17,200 and Chen dropped into the tank.

Chen thought through the hand for a couple of minutes. The bet was for the remainder of his stack. Eventually he settled on calling. Sinclair showed {9-Spades}{7-Spades} for a turned flush.

"I almost folded," Chen said, showing {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}.

With that, Sinclair took down the pot and moved to almost 45,000 chips.

Volpe's Hot Summer Continues

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante
Paul Volpe (as seen on the O8 final table)
Paul Volpe (as seen on the O8 final table)

So far, it's been Paul Volpe's summer. Volpe made a huge statement in the first two weeks of the World Series, making two top-three finishes including winning his third bracelet in the $10K Omaha Hi-Lo Championship.

Volpe now returned to the hold'em scene, taking his seat to the left of reigning World Champion Scott Blumstein. Volpe immediately started piling chips.

He recently played a three-way pot, sitting under the gun battling against opponents in the small blind and hijack. Volpe triple-barreled the {3-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{2-Spades} board, betting 1,300 on the flop, then 3,800 on the turn, and finally dropping a 11,700-chip shell. The first bet was called by both players while only the small blind stuck around after the turn. However, he gave up on the river and Volpe didn't need to show his hand to rake in the pot.

Reilly Gets Paid by Perry

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante

Action was on the river with a board of {Q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and Ralph Perry was facing off against Tim Reilly. There was a bit more than 5,000 in the pot and Perry put out a small bet of 1,500. Reilly thought for a moment then raised, making it 11,500.

Perry dropped into the tank and thought for about a minute before eventually deciding to call. Reilly turned over his {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for the nut flush and that earned an instant muck from Perry.

With that pot, Reilly moved over 60,000 chips while Perry dropped under 70,000.

Ruzicka Saves His Bet for River

Level 5 : 100/300, 300 ante

Presumably in a three-bet pot, Vojtech Ruzicka was under the gun competing against a player in the small blind.

The small blind led out 2,200 on the {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}{J-Spades} flop and Ruzicka called before they both checked the {5-Hearts} turn.

The {3-Hearts} landed on the river and Ruzicka fired 7,100 in position and his opponent called.

Ruzicka tabled {A-Spades}{5-Spades} for turned two pair and claimed the pot, boosting his stack to 54,000.

Davies Fires Thrice

Level 5 : 100/300, 300 ante

The flop was {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and the player in the cutoff put out a bet of 1,000. Seth Davies was on the button and he raised, making it 2,600. Action was back to the player in the cutoff and he called.

The turn was the {5-Clubs} and the cutoff checked to Davies again. Davies put out a bet of 5,000. The cutoff called.

On the {2-Clubs} river, the player checked a third time. Davies moved all in for 27,500 which was more than the size of the pot. The player thought for a bit, but eventually decided to fold and Davies was awarded the pot, moving him near 45,000 chips.

Moraes Coolered by Chen

Level 5 : 100/300, 300 ante

On the turn reading {8-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Spades}, James Chen and Raffael Moraes stuffed in their chips. Moraes had Chen covered as Chen had only 11,700 left before the betting round.

James Chen: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Rafael Moraes: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}

Moraes' bullets were drawing slim as Chen had outflopped him. The river fell the {10-Spades}, sealing the double for Chen who now plays the double of Moraes' stack.

The Beast of Hallaert

Level 5 : 100/300, 300 ante

Kenny Hallaert has had tremendous success in WSOP no-limit hold'em events, but he's still missing the bracelet in his showcase.

Hallaert, however, keeps his foot firmly on the gas pedal, crushing and crushing until he binks.

He's off to a great start here in the $5K no-limit hold'em event, having just busted an opponent to vault to 85,000.

The action was seen on the river with just under 20,000 in the pot. The board read {10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and Hallaert's opponent checked out of the big blind. Hallaert was in the hijack and slid in a 20,000-chip bet, covering his rival's remaining stack of what looked to be 17,600.

After a little bit of tanking, a call followed and that was music to Hallaert's ears as he turned up {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} for a set. His opponent mucked but the players at the table demanded his hand to be turned over and became apparent he tried to catch Hallaert with {K-Spades}{10-Clubs}.

"You're such a beast, Kenny," one of the players at the table complimented Hallaert. "Always got a set."

"I always have it," Hallaert agreed.
