Sternheimer checked, and his Italian opponent bet enough to put him all in.

"That's where I really fucked up," said Sternheimer. "I gave away the strength of my hand."

He toyed with his decision before calling. "Eight," announced Sammartino, tabling {8-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{3-}, and Sternheimer's {10-}{9-}{5-}{4-}{3-} was mucked and he was eliminated.
