Bicknell Sampling the Big Bet Mix

Level 8 : 300/600, 150 ante
Kristen Bicknell
Kristen Bicknell

No-Limit 5 Card Draw

Kristen Bicknell has two WSOP gold bracelets, both of which are in No-Limit Hold'em events, but she's jumped in the $2,500 Big Bet Mix for a change. On her first hand, in Pot-Limit Omaha 8 or Better, she folded to a flop continuation bet from Sammartino, and the game immediately changed to 5 Card Draw.

Bicknell asked for an explanation of the game, and it was given to her by tablemate Calvin Anderson.

It folded to Sammartino who opened to 1,400.

"So wait, I can go all in?" asked Bicknell, who then did so. She already separated her five cards into four and one. The action folded back to Sammartino who had a decision.

"Did Krissy just move all in and show her draw?" said railbird Shaun Deeb from the next table. "Wow, live pro reads; Alex Foxen must be at the same table(!)"

Sammartino eventually folded showing {q-}{q-}. Bicknell showed {j-}{j-}

"Wow, she just levelled you Dario," continued Deeb, "She's secretly been playing this game for 23 years with her grandma."

Double Up for Greenstein

Level 8 : 300/600, 150 ante
Barry Greenstein
Barry Greenstein

Pot-Limit Omaha

We picked up the action on the {4-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop and Barry Greenstein put 1,800 in the middle. Ray Henson, the left-hand neighbor of Greenstein called and both saw the {6-Diamonds} turn appear.

Greenstein bet 6,000 this time, with just 5,975 behind. Henson put him all-in and Greenstein quickly called.

Ray Henson: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}
Barry Greenstein: {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades}{3-Hearts}

The river was a complete brick and Greenstein managed to double up to a more than healthy stack.

Israelashvili Doubles Through Sammartino

Level 8 : 300/600, 150 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

Roland Israelashvili got his last 5,425 chips in against Dario Sammartino, and was behind and looking for help to stay alive.

Dario Sammartino: {a-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Roland Israelashvili: {4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

"I need your six," said Israelashvili and the flop came {8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

"I still need your six," he said as the turn came the {8-Spades}.

In the end, he hit a pair on the {4-Clubs} river and doubled up.

Vitch Eliminates Leah

Level 7 : 250/500, 125 ante
Mike Leah

Pot-Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw

Mike Leah got fourth place in the Poker Player Championship earlier today and jumped right into the Big Bet Mix tournament. It didn't go as well as in the PPC, since he just busted out in a hand against Chris Vitch.

We're unsure how the drawing went on the first draw, but after they drew all of Leah's chips went in the middle. Vitch barely covered him and his chips were in the middle as well.

They both drew one on the second draw and Leah announced he was going to draw one on the third draw. Vitch stood pat and after the draw he opened up {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}. Leah opened up a {10-} and Vitch got awarded with the pot.

Ross Doubles Up

Level 7 : 250/500, 125 ante

No-Limit 5 Card Draw

Jerry Wong raised to 1,500 and Ray Henson called. Mike Ross then three-bet all in for 9,500 from the button. Wong called and Henson folded.

Wong drew three and Ross one.

Jerry Wong: {a-}{a-}
Mike Ross: {7-}{7-}{2-}{2-}

Ross drew a {10-} and didn't improve. Wong needed an ace or a pair, but drew {k-}{6-}{3-} and Ross doubled up.

(Re)entries

Level 7 : 250/500, 125 ante

Maria Ho just joined the field and she is seated right next to Dutch Bracelet winner Marcel Vonk. Shortly after she sat down, Daniel Negreanu walked in as well and sat down at the same table as Vonk and Ho.

One reentry is allowed in the tournament and Erik Seidel and Calvin Anderson were seen making a reentry in this tournament. The tournament is now at 186 entries which makes it the biggest Big Bet Mix tournament at the WSOP ever, beating last years field of 179 entries.
