Sammartino Jams on Holz

Level 5 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Jonathan Little opened on the button with a raise to 15,000. Next to act was Dario Sammartino in the small blind. He put in a three-bet to 52,000. Fedor Holz was in the big blind and he thought through most of his 30 seconds before putting in a four-bet to 105,000.

Little quickly pitched his cards away and action was back on Sammartino. Sammartino burned through his first 30 seconds, thinking, before putting in a time extension. Near the end of his extra 30 seconds, Sammartino decided to move all in and Holz quickly flicked his cards into the muck. With that, Sammartino took down the pot and now approaches 1 million while Holz drops to just over 200,000.

Sontheimer Bombs the River

Level 5 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Chris Hunichen raised it up to 12,000 from the hijack and Chris Moore flatted from the button. Steffen Sontheimer also called from the big blind and the flop came {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. The action checked to Moore who bet 12,000 and received a call from only Sontheimer.

The {5-Hearts} on the turn put four hearts on the board and both players checked. The river was the {9-Clubs} and Sontheimer led out for 75,000. Moore used up a time extension before finally sending his cards face down into the muck.

Koray Aldemir raised to 11,000 from middle position, Dario Sammartino called from the cutoff, and Fedor Holz three-bet to 50,000 from the button. Both Aldemir and Sammartino called.

They checked to the turn of a {K-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} board where Holz bet 57,000. Aldemir check-called, and Sammartino check-folded.

The river was the {9-Clubs}, and Aldemir checked to Holz who bet 175,000. Aldemir check-raised all in for 462,500, and Holz went into the tank. After using his remaining three time extensions, Holz folded.

"Show one?" asked tablemate Larry Greenberg.

"Show one no club," said a smiling Holz.

Aldemir cracked a little smile as he collected the pot.

Kaverman Calls Down With King-High

Level 5 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Byron Kaverman opened from the cutoff with a raise to 14,000. Johannes Becker called on the button and Alex Foxen called from the big blind.

The flop came down {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Foxen checked to Kaverman who put out a bet of 18,000. Becker folded quickly while Foxen called.

On the {4-Spades} turn, Foxen decided to lead out, putting out a bet of 32,000. Kaverman thought for a bit, then called the bet.

Both players checked on the {A-Spades} river. Foxen showed {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for just the aces on board with a nine kicker. Kaverman showed {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and that earned him the pot.

Meanwhile, on an alternate table, Daniel Negreanu has reentered the event.

Igor Kurganov raised to 10,000 in the cutoff and Johannes Becker three-bet to 46,000 from the small blind. Kurganov called and the flop fell {k-Hearts}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Becker led out for 30,000 and Kurganov made the call.

The turn brought the {3-Clubs} and Becker bet another 120,000 which Kurganov still called. The {10-Clubs} paired the board on the river and Becker slowed down with a check this time. Kurganov thought for a minute before announcing a bet of 390,000. Becker wasted little time before placing a couple chips in the pot to signify a call. Kurganov flashed the {a-Spades}{j-Spades} and Becker tabled {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for two pair.

With that pot, Becker soared towards the top of the leaderboard while Kurganov was left with under 30,000 chips and busted shortly therafter.
