Vieira Joins the Field

Level 4 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

Joao Vieira joined the field and got a seat at the table with Daniel Negreanu, Kevin Song, and Andre Akkari. Vieira walked right over to Akkari and started talking in Portuguese as Negreanu started to join the conversation.

The table is pretty chatty and the atmosphere seems to be good overall in the tournament.

JC Tran in a previous event.

The under the gun player raised and JC Tran called from the big blind. They went heads-up to the {q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop and Tran checked. His opponent bet and Tran check-raised.

The player called and Tran led out again on the {5-Diamonds} turn card. His opponent called and the river was the {4-Spades}. Once again Tran fired out a bet and after some deliberation the player called.

Tran tabled his {a-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for trip fives and his opponent double checked his hole cards before firing them face down into the muck.

Obst Climbing Back

Level 5 : 600/1,200, 0 ante
James Obst
James Obst

James Obst has been below the starting stack since early in the tournament, but it seems as if he's fighting his way back to the 50,000 chip mark. Obst made it two bets preflop from late position and the player in the small blind called, as did Scott Mayfield from the big blind.

The flop came down {7-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and the player in the small blind led out with a bet. Mayfield folded and Obst decided to make it two bets again. The player in the small blind called.

The turn was the {3-Clubs} and the flop action was repeated. There was a bet, Obst put in two, and his opponent called again. Both checked on the {5-Diamonds} river and after his opponent showed {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades} for queen high, Obst showed {A-Spades}{9-Clubs} for the winning hand with ace high.

Level 5 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Humberto Brenes has joined the tournament and is seated with Anthony Zinno, Eric Vallee, and Tommy Rounds. He immediately battled it out with Rounds but Brenes wasn't able to finish on top.

Rounds made it two bets from middle position and Brenes defended his big blind. The flop was {10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Brenes proceed to check-call on the flop, the {6-Hearts} turn, and the {Q-Hearts} river.

Rounds showed {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a flush and Brenes mucked his hand.

Rounds Continues to Climb

Level 5 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Tommy Rounds raised from the hi-jack and Anthony Zinno three-bet from the button. The big blind called and Rounds called.

They went three handed to the {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop and the action checked around. The turn brought the {10-Clubs} and it check to Rounds who bet. Both players quickly folded and Rounds added another pot to his stack.

Rounds continues to climb the chip counts and looks to be the first player to hit the century chip mark.
