"No Chance" for the G's Aces

Level 12 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Tommy Hang defended the big blind from a Tony G raise in late position and then led out on {7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. Tony G called and then called again on the {q-Hearts} turn. Hang checked the {3-Hearts} and Tony G thought briefly and then checked back.

Hang shook his head at the check back and tossed in {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the nut flush. Tony G showed {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}.

"First time aces," he said. "No chance."

Leah Eliminates Mayfield

Level 12 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Mike Leah
Mike Leah

Mike Leah raised from early position and Scott Mayfield moved all-in from the button. Both of the blinds called and they saw a flop of {q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades}. It checked to Leah who bet and both players quickly folded.

Leah turned over {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} and Mayfield showed {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}. The turn {4-Diamonds} and river {10-Clubs} were no help to Mayfield and he was sent to the rail. As we eyed out Leah's chip stack to get a count he joked "It's just infinite, I haven't lost a hand yet this tournament."

Leah who registered with just 20 minutes left on Day 1 continues to climb and he is closing in on 200,000.

"I Hope You Get There"

Level 12 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

After some action on the {6-Clubs}{7-Spades}{a-Spades} flop — it looked like Tony G bet-three-bet against big blind Christopher Roth — they got Tony G's last 8,000 in on the {7-Clubs} turn. Tony G had {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for a flush draw, which seemed to surprised Roth, who laughed as he showed {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}.

"I hope you get there," Roth said.

He got there on the {2-Clubs} river and Tony G secured the double.

Queens Full for Zewin

Level 11 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Jerid Zewin raised from under the gun and Nick Schulman three-bet from the small blind. Zewin called and they saw a flop of {q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades}. Schulman led out with a bet and Zewin called.

The turn was the {5-Hearts} and again Schulman fired out a bet and Zewin called. The river was the {j-Hearts}, Schulman checked and Zewin threw his last 5,000 into the pot.

Schulman called and Zewin turned over {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for queens full of fives to earn the pot and the double-up.

Hang Holding Aces

Level 11 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Three players put in four bets preflop, with Tommy Hang appearing to be the aggressor out of the small blind. The {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{6-Spades} prompted a bet from him and two calls. On the {7-Clubs}, he bet again and only a middle-position opponent called. Both players checked when the {3-Clubs} hit and Hang tossed in {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} to rake in the pot.

Kruk Value Owns Self

Christopher Kruk
Christopher Kruk

Christopher Kruk raised early and got action from big blind Cary Katz. Katz check-called the {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{q-Clubs} flop and the {k-Spades} hit the turn. Katz checked and Kruk thought a bit before betting this time. Again, Katz called. The river was the {2-Diamonds} and Katz check-called a final bet, winning with {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts} against {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}.

Lisandro Flops Top Two

Level 11 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Jeff Lisandro
Jeff Lisandro

Jeff Lisandro raised from late position and Jerid Zewin called from the big blind. They went heads-up to the {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop and Zewin checked. Lisandro bet, Zewin check-raised and Lisandro called.

The turn was the {6-Spades}, Zewin led out with a bet and Lisandro called. The river was the {9-Clubs} and Zewin check-called a bet from Lisandro who turned over {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for top two pair. Zewin took his time double-checking his hole cards before throwing them away and Lisandro dragged in the pot.

Hellmuth Only Gets a Little

Level 11 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Phil Hellmuth in the big blind and Bryce Landier in the small checked down a board of {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{j-Spades}{k-Hearts} until Landier bet the river. Hellmuth smiled as he thought for awhile and had raising chips in his hand but then verbalized a call.

Landier showed {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for a turned straight and seemed confused when the pot was pushed to Hellmuth after he showed {q-Spades}{9-Clubs}, perhaps out of sheer surprise that Hellmuth didn't raise.
