John Hennigan has been having an excellent 2018 World Series of Poker and that continued on Day 1 of Event #56: $10,000 Razz Championship. Hennigan leads the remaining 52 players heading into Day 2.

As of now, there are 112 players registered and players who have not yet entered can do so up until the beginning of Day 2, which is Thursday at 2 p.m.

Hennigan joined the field during Level 3 and hovered around the starting stack for a while. However, in Level 9 he made a charge up the counts. With about 20 minutes left to go in the day, Hennigan and Ted Forrest were battling for the chip lead with stacks of about 240,000 each. Hennigan rode a nice rush at the end to eclipse the 300,000 mark and finished with 302,000. He is followed by Forrest (221,500) and Per Hildebrand (221,000) as the only players above 200,000.

Defending champion James Obst was treading water for most of he day, but also rode a rush during the final two levels of the night to bag an above average stack of 166,500. Others who will be returning on Day 2 include Julien Martini (193,000), Bart Hanson (187,000), Robert Mizrachi (183,500), Allen Kessler (183,000), Dzmitry Urbanovich (179,000), Larry Wright (167,000), Mike Leah (126,500), Paul Volpe (116,500), Shaun Deeb (82,500), and Calvin Anderson (79,500).
