Leah Finally in Calm Waters, Knocks Out Muir

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Mike Leah
Mike Leah

A-5 Triple Draw

Mike Leah raised, Frank Muir contemplated his decision for a minute, then called and drew one. Leah took two in position. Leah fired another bet and Muir called right away, drawing one again. Leah stood pat on the second draw.

Leah bet and Muir called once again, leaving himself with just 12,500. He drew one again and Leah almost opened his hand, forgetting that Muir wasn't all in just yet.

Muir checked to him and Leah bet 12,000. Muir weighed his options, then put the 12,000 aside and found he'd be left with 500 if he called and lost. Eventually, he rather stuffed it in completely and Leah called.

Leah had {A-}{2-}{3-}{5-}{8-} and Muir briefly showed a ten-seven before heading to the payouts.

Leah still trails the tournament average but he now has almost nine big bets to maneuver.

Another Double for Leah

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

A-5 Triple Draw

Mike Leah bet after the second draw and George Trigeorgis called. Leah asked for a card and Trigeorgis patted. Leah spread his {5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} to indicate he was drawing to the nuts. Only problem was, he still had 6,500 back and wasn't all in yet.

"What am I doing?" he muttered to himself as he turned his cards back over.

Leah sweated his last card and then bet. Trigeorgis asked the supervisor if it was allowed and he confirmed Leah could still bet.

"That's a strong draw," Trigeorgis muttered. "I can beat some things..."

Eventually, he slid in a call and Leah rolled over a wheel.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Trigeorgis said, mucking {7-}{6-}{4-}{2-}{a-}.

"I would have bet worse than that," Leah said with a laugh.

Leah Runs for His Double

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

2-7 Triple Draw

Mike Leah is hanging in the mixed triple draw like cockroach.

Leah raised from the first position, leaving himself with just 4,500. Frank Muir called on the button and they changed two apiece. Leah moved all in and Muir matched his remaining shrapnel.

They both change one on the second draw before Leah patted the last draw. Muir still needed to discard one.

Leah opened his {9-}{7-}{6-}{3-}{2-} while Muir showed {7-}{4-}{3-}{2-}.

Leah stood up and quickly ran around the table to his opponent, sweating the last card. Muir let Leah peel it. Leah hoped to avoid any nine, eight, six or five, and he did so as he showed the {2-} face up.

Leah Back to Crumbs

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Badugi

Mike Leah bet after the second draw and Joe Wagganer raised. Wagganer had fewer than one big bet behind and Leah took his time to make his decision. He eventually three-bet to cover Wagganer's stack and Wagganer called off.

Leah took one while Wagganer had a made hand with {A-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Leah peeled his new card after opening {A-}{2-}{4-} but the fourth card didn't suit him and he quickly mucked.

"Alright, back to crumbs again," Leah said.

Baxter "Squirrelly"

Badugi

Billy Baxter opened for a raise first to act and Joe Wagganer pushed all in. Since they're playing limit poker, Baxter assumed it was a raise to 15,000 and called. When he was informed Wagganer had more behind, he opted to fold instead.

The dealer was dragging the cards in and Baxter reached out.

"Lemme see that hand," he said, turning over {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and getting some chuckles out of his opponents.

"You are gettin' a little squirrelly over there aren't you?" asked Chris Vitch. "If you're gonna do it, that's the hand to do it with."

"I've never done that," Baxter confessed. "But I couldn't in good conscience fold that hand."

"I understand."

Ten-dugi Does It for Lord

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Badugi

Kristan Lord was out of position following the second draw, check-raising Jason Riesenberg. Riesenberg three-bet and Lord slid in the required extra calling chips.

He patted and Riesenberg drew one. Lord checked and Riesenberg convinced himself to check back.

Lord showed {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Riesenberg was disappointed that he didn't get there. Lord stacked his newly earned chips in the meantime.
