Schapira and Winn Bust After Dinner

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The screens have been updated and show 3,828 players remaining, as more and more players arrive with their chips sealed in plastic bags, having been moved from the Pavilion room into Amazon. Among them were Johannes Becker and Maria Lampropulos, who sat down not too far away from each other.

Ethan Schapira was all in and at risk with the {Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts} against Ryan Laplante's {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and the board of {K-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} provided no help, Laplante claimed the pot with his ace-high.

Beau Winn has also been sent to the rail. He got it in before the flop with {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} against the {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} of table neighbor Keith Block and was drawing dead on the turn of a board {K-Spades}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}.

Nitsche Picked Off

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Dominik Nitsche
Dominik Nitsche

Dominik Nitsche defended big blind against a raise from early position and he called another 3,100 on the {6-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop before both players checked the {A-Spades} turn. Nitsche then fired 3,000 on the river and his opponent looked him up. Nitsche revealed {Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} for a missed double gutter and conceded the pot when the other player showed {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}.

Leah Left With Crumbs After Dinner

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Mike Leah
Mike Leah

A player limped in under the gun for 1,000 and Mike Leah followed along a few seats over. Both the cutoff and the button called before the small blind popped it up to 7,000. The under the gun limper called before Leah backshoved for 36,200 total. Action folded around to the small blind who folded and the under the gun limper dropped into the tank. He thought for a bit over a minute before deciding to call all in for less than Leah's stack.

Mike Leah: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Under the Gun: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

The flop came down {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Leah was in the lead with his sixes as well as the only flush draw. The turn was the {7-Spades} though and that brought extra outs for the under the gun player. The river was the {K-Clubs} pairing the board. That counterfeited Leah's pair of sixes and with his ace kicker, the player under the gun doubled up for 27,000, leaving Leah with just 8,800 chips.

Brosius Eliminates Zhang

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The board was down {9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}, and Michael Chi Zhang saw Adam Brosius check-raise his 4,000 bet to 15,000 from the small blind. Zhang only had around 35,000 behind him, and he moved all in, which Brosius called.

Michael Chi Zhang: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Adam Brosius: {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

River: {4-Diamonds}

Brosius had hit two pair and was ahead of Zhang's pair of aces and the former held on the river to eliminate the British grinder.

Rough Beat for Hanley Before Dinner

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

During the dinner break, Randy Hanley approached the live reporting team to explain how he was eliminated just before the dinner break.

"This is the sickest beat I ever took, I played and cashed in the Main Event before, but never seen anything like that."

According to Hanley, he three-bet all in for 20 big blinds with pocket queens and initial raiser Antal Mezei called with ace-queen. A {Q-}{7-}{3-} flop all but sealed the double for Hanley, but running aces gave Mezei the better full house in cruel fashion.

Players at the table have since confirmed this exact run out.

Song Hits Trips

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante
Stephen Song
Stephen Song

The board was down {k-Hearts}{6-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{2-Clubs}, and Stephen Song bet 12,000 from the small blind. His opponent was Ubaid Habib, in middle position, and he thought through his decision for about a minute before he made the call.

Song tabled {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for trips queens, and Habib mucked. Song, who achieved 7th place for $41,257 in Event #37: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em, earlier on in the series is now sitting on 350,000 as the dinner break approaches.
