Chin Doubles; Saltus Gets Huge

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Yashuo Chin more than doubled her stack early on and just scored a full double through Jason Casale when turning the nut straight on a board of {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Casale's cards were already in the muck while he paid off the stack of Chin, her {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} tabled right in front of the chips.

Brian Saltus has taken over the lead in the Amazon Tan section. Saltus tangled with Christopher Chaudey in a three-bet pot, in which Chaudey check-raised the {A-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop. Running hearts created a big pot and Saltus was not willing to fold {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, taking a big chunk out of Chaudey's stack. The Frenchman was left with his head shaking and soon after headed off into the first break of the day.

"One Time! Can I Use It?"

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Louis Boutin raised to 4,000 in middle position and Ryan Lee called. Chuck Myers three-bet to 13,500 on the button, Boutin four-bet to 23,000, Lee folded, Myers five-bet shoved 55,000 and Boutin called it off.

Chuck Myers: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Louis Boutin: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

"One time? Can I use it?" Myers questioned, despite holding the far superior hand.

"No no no," his neighbor interfered, trying to prevent Myers from using the one time up early.

"It's locked in now," another player said, stepping up as the arbiter.

The one time failed to provide it's magic as Boutin spiked a set during the {7-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{J-Hearts}{A-Spades}{4-Diamonds} rundown to eliminate Myers. Lee indicated he folded {7-}{7-}, dodging a huge bullet with a potential set-under-set.

"Good game. Nice playing with you, guys," he said as he made his way to the exit.

Hellmuth's Rant Turns to Crickets

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Just moments before the first break of the day, Phil Hellmuth was about to go on another tirade but quickly shut down when he made the best hand. Adam Brosius opened from the hijack and Hellmuth defended from the big blind. The flop came {j-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Hellmuth checked to Brosius who continued for 5,500. Hellmuth check-raised to 21,000 and Brosius called.

The {8-Spades} landed on the turn and Hellmuth checked again. Brosius moved all in for 41,000 and Hellmuth bounced out of his seat. "Did you really call twenty-one thousand with a flush draw?" Hellmuth pondered his decision for a moment and then made the call.

Brosius tabled {a-Spades}{q-Spades} and Hellmuth was about to lose his mind when he showed his {7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. However, the dealer burned and turned the {5-Hearts} on the river to give Hellmuth quads. He quietly sat back in his chair with his hand over his mouth as the pot was pushed his way.

Politano Spikes an Ace on the River to Score the Knockout

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Bruno Politano in a previous WSOP event.
Bruno Politano in a previous WSOP event.

Stephen Kuehl raised to 6,000 from middle position and Bruno Politano re-raised to 20,500 from the button. It folded back to Kuehl who moved all in for about 60,000 and Politano called.

Bruno Politano: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Stephen Kuehl: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

The dealer spread the {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{9-Diamonds} flop and Kuehl's pocket queens maintained the lead. The turn {10-Hearts} gave some straight outs to Politano but Kuehl remained ahead and was just one card away from a double up.

The {a-Clubs} hit the river and Politano spiked his ace to earn the pot and the knockout. Kuehl took the tough beat in stride shaking hands with Politano and they even posed for a quick selfie together before Kuehl made his exit from the Brasilia room.
