Barry Hutter Surges into the Chip Lead

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Barry Hutter
Barry Hutter

Following a hijack raise to 18,000, and a call in the cutoff, Barry Hutter three-bet to 65,000 from the button. The initial raiser folded, but the cutoff called as the flop landed {Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}.

Hutter continued for 50,000, and his opponent check-called as the {4-Spades} rolled off on the turn. Hutter's opponent checked again, and Hutter bet out 125,000 with his opponent again making the call.

The river landed the {K-Hearts}, and after a third check from Hutter's opponent, Hutter announced he was all in for over 2.2 million.

Hutter's opponent snap-called for his 350,000 and tossed in a handful of chips and revealed his {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for trips.

Hutter revealed his {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} for a rivered full house to eliminate his opponent and soar to over 3.1 million in chips.

Ralph Massey
Ralph Massey

Ralph Massey raised to 18,000 from middle position and Cory Albertson reraised to 36,000 from the hijack. Martin Zamani called from the big blind and with the action back on Massey he moved all in for 283,000. Albertson re-shoved all in for over a million and Zamani folded.

"I didn't come here to fold" said Albertson turning over {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and Massey showed {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. The board ran out clean for Massey {9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Spades} and his ace queen high was enough to earn him the double up.

Takayama Two-Outers Paur in Near Million Pot

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Mike Takayama
Mike Takayama

Taylor Paur was standing next to his seat with a stunned look on his face and no chips in front of him. After receiving the card with his finishing position from the chip runner, he made his way out of the Amazon room.

Mike Takayama was the one stacking heaps and the table collectively recapped the action that just transpired. Paur had raised to 16,000 from the hijack and Ema Zajmovic had called from the cutoff. Mike Takayama then three-bet to 77,000 on the button, Paur four-bet shoved for 416,000, Zajmovic folded and Takayama called.

Paur held {J-}{J-} and Takayama was a dog with {10-}{10-}. However, the {10-} fell in the window to ship the almost seven-figure pot over to the Filipino bracelet winner.

"It's all my fault," Zajmovic chuckled.

No Mercy by Merrilees

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Daniel Merrilees
Daniel Merrilees

On the tail end of a three-way pot, the {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{7-Spades}{4-Spades} turn was checked through and Daniel Merrilees bet the {9-Hearts} river for 150,000. Elgio Gomez Barrios called from two seats over, as did another player, and Merrilees tabled the {8-Spades}{5-Spades}. The dealer announced "showdown please" despite no all in showdown, and Gomez Barrios exposed his {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a straight while the third player mucked.

One hand later, Gomez Barrios moved all in for 34,000 and Merrilees just called on the button. The small blind moved all in for around 90,000 and the Brit snap-called.

Elgio Gomez Barrios: {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}
Small blind: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}
Daniel Merrilees: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}

The {A-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} instantly gave Merrilees top set, and he scored a double knockout with the {5-Spades} turn and {5-Clubs} river run out.

He moved tables, causing "woahhh's" and then came over to carry the rest of his belongings, once the Brit sat down, he greeted everyone with a "what's up boys."

Loeser Catches Gin to Eliminate Klodnicki

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Chris Klodnicki
Chris Klodnicki

Chris Klodnicki opened from early position with a raise to 23,000. One player called and action folded around to the blinds where Manig Loeser moved all in for a bit over 200,000. Klodnicki called while the other player in the hand folded and it was on to a showdown.

Chris Klodnicki: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}
Manig Loeser: {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Loeser flopped the best of it with his pair but Klodnicki had flush and straight draws. The turn was the {Q-Diamonds} though and the river was the {9-Clubs} fading Klodnicki's outs entirely so Loeser would take down the pot to nearly double up and eliminate Klodnicki from the tournament.

Hutter Jumps Above Two Million; Umdenstock Runs Bad

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Barry Hutter
Barry Hutter

Following a reraise by Joseph Umdenstock, Barry Hutter clicked it back up to 150,000 and Umdenstock quickly called. On the {10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop, Hutter continued for 100,000 and was called almost instantly before the second barrel on the {7-Diamonds} turn was for 175,000. Again, Umdenstock wasted little time before making the call to see the {3-Clubs} on the river.

Hutter moved all in and Umdenstock was taken aback.

"That's a terrible river card for you," he said and soon after added "I need a couple minutes people, sorry." It only took 90 seconds before Umdenstock sent his cards into the muck, though, while Hutter stayed busy to implement further chips into his growing tower of chips.

Shortly after, Umdenstock was involved in another big pot and called the shove of Sunil Verma on the {7-Hearts}{5-Spades}{4-Spades} flop with {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} for bottom set. Verma had the {A-Spades}{8-Spades} for the gutshot and flush draw, and the {10-Diamonds} turn and {6-Spades} river completed the flush. Verma doubled for 273,000 and Umdenstock's stack took another big hit.

Song Doubles Through Volpe

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Stephen Song
Stephen Song

As the field was making their way out of the Amazon Room for their first break of the day, Paul Volpe and Stephen Song were still active in a big hand.

On the turn, the board read {2-Clubs}{3-Spades}{3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and Volpe, in middle position, had a bet of 52,000 in front of him. Song made it 104,000 on the cutoff and Volpe called after some thought.

The river brought the {J-Clubs} and Volpe opted to lead out for 100,000. Song took around a minute before shoving all in for 226,000 and Volpe went deep in the tank. The camera's swooped in to catch the action and see Volpe eventually call it off after three minutes.

Song tabled {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for a boat, Volpe flung his hand face-down in the muck and quickly headed out of the Amazon.
