Full House for the Magician

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Antonio Esfandiari
Antonio Esfandiari

Tony Miles raised to 23,000 from middle position and Antonio Esfandiari called from the big blind. The flop came {j-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {k-Hearts} on the turn.

Esfandiari checked again and Miles tossed in a bet of 19,000. Esfandiari called and the {k-Clubs} double-paired the board on the river. Esfandiari checked again and Miles bet another 32,000. Esfandiari chose to check-raise to 79,000 and Miles paid him off. Esfandiari held a king for a full house and raked in the pot.

Esfandiari briefly became the chipleader on the feature table until James Romano took over Salas' old seat with around 1,800,000 chips.

Salas Falls, Puente Survives

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Just moments after Damian Salas hit the rail after losing a flip, Jose Puente was on the ropes as well for 140,000. He was up against Keith Block and the two players were off to the races.

Jose Puente: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Keith Block: {a-}{q-}

The board ran out {7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and Puente's pocket jacks held on to secure him a double-up. Block was left with just 84,000 after the hand, which is under 10 big blinds.

Hirschfield Sets Up Khoury

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Four players saw a flop of {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{8-Spades} and it checked to Mazin Khoury who bet 40,000 into a main pot of about 130,000. Larry Hirschfield raised to 100,000 and it folded back to Khoury who moved all in for just over 400,000.

Hirschfield snap-called, turning over {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} for bottom set, and Khoury showed {k-Spades}{10-Spades} for the nut flush draw and a gutshot straight draw. The turn {2-Hearts} and river {6-Hearts} sealed the deal for Hirschfield and Khoury was sent to the rail.

Rean Sitting With Piles

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Nirath Rean three-bet to 50,000 out of the small blind after the cutoff opened. That player called and they checked the flop to a board of {j-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}. Rean bet 50,000 and his opponent called. On the {8-Spades} river, Rean bet 85,000 and again received a call.

Rean showed {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and took it down with the underfull.

Akenhead Gives Perry the Worst Sweat

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Greg Perry opened in middle position with a raise to 22,000 before James Akenhead reraised, making it 65,000 from the cutoff. Action folded back to Perry who four-bet, making it 150,000, and Akenhead asked for a look at his stack before moving all in for more. Perry quickly called.

James Akenhead: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Greg Perry: {a-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

The flop came down {A-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} which gave both players a pair but made it so Akenhead could be the only player to win the pot. The turn was the {J-Diamonds} which now gave Akenhead a realistic chance of taking it down, but the river was the {Q-Spades} meaning both players would chop the pot.

"Why you gotta make me sweat like that?" Perry asked after the hand. "That was not fun."

Akenhead, as well as some of the other members of the table, let out some laughs before he offered Perry a fistbump, which was returned with a laugh.

Kaplan Climbing with River Raise

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

On a flop of {J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, Jaime Kaplan was confronted with an under-the-gun bet of 52,000. Kaplan was in the cutoff, and he made the call as the {8-Hearts} rolled off on the turn.

Kaplan's opponent continued for 94,000 and Kaplan called as the river landed the {3-Diamonds}.

Kaplan's opponent bet 116,000, and Kaplan cut out a raise amounting to 400,000. Kaplan's opponent went deep into the tank for several minutes before eventually finding a fold.
