Zaichenko Scoops Against Brookshire

Level 10 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

Nick Schulman in the small blind check-folded the {j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{7-Clubs} turn and David Brookshire in the big blind check-called a bet of Andrey Zaichenko from under the gun, then announced a check in the dark. The {6-Spades} followed on the river and Zaichenko bet, Brookshire called.

Zaichenko rolled over the {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades} for a pair and the nut low, and Brookshie mucked.

Phil Ivey: {x-}{x-} / {4-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} / {x-}
Dario Sammartino: {x-}{x-} / {q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} / {x-}

Big stack Philip Sternheimer had just mucked his cards on sixth when Phil Ivey had check-called a bet of Dario Sammartino and Ivey check-called another bet on seventh. Sammartino rolled over {j-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs} for a jack-high straight and Ivey mucked, dropping to half the stating stack as a result.

Ryynanen Wins One; Chait and Brookshire Chop

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Stud Hi-Lo

Sampo Ryynanen: {x-}{x-} / {2-Spades}{a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}
Nick Schulman: {x-}{x-} / {5-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Spades}

After pairing his ace on fifth, Sampo Ryynanen bet and Nick Schulman called, but folded to the next bet on sixth.

David Brookshire: {x-}{x-} / {4-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Spades} / {x-}
David "ODB" Baker: {x-}{x-} / {3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{8-Clubs} / {x-}
Craig Chait: {x-}{x-} / {5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs} / {x-}

Soon after on the same table, one of the current big stacks got involved in the action in David Brookshire. He check-called a bet by Craig Chait on sixth and David "ODB" Baker came along as well. On seventh, Brookshire glanced at the table and asked if he was first to bet with his pair of fours. That was confirmed and his bet forced out Baker, while Chait quickly called.

Brookshire rolled over {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for a straight and Chait took the low pot with {a-Spades}{k-Spades}{2-Hearts}.

Hold'em

Adam Owen raised and Anson Tsang made it three bets on a short stack. Calvin Anderson reluctantly folded and Greg Mueller on the button four-bet with the words "Okay, I'll help you to get it in." Owen gave it some thought and folded, Tsang called.

"You might still check-fold the flop," Mueller grinned and the flop fell {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, which went check, check. They got it in after the {k-Diamonds} turn and Tsang rolled over {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. Mueller had that dominated with {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} and the river came the {3-Hearts}.

In table chat, Anderson said he folded sevens and Owen mentioned he let go of ace-queen with a smile on the face.

Obst Eliminated by Loube and Katz

James Obst
James Obst

Omaha Hi-Lo

James Obst was spotted grabbing his belongings and his stack was about to be chopped up, as Steven Loube and Cary Katz shared the high and low portion on a board of {9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts}.

Obst had been all in with {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades} and made two pair in the end, but it was no good against the {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} of Katz for tens and nines, and the {a-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs} of Loube for the nut low.

Just moments earlier, Maria Ho was eliminated from one table over and headed out of the tournament area as well.

Ospina Rivers the Best Hand

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

On the three-way turn of {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{k-Hearts}, three bets went in three ways including Daniel Ospina and Cary Katz, and the former also bet the {j-Clubs} on the river. Katz folded, but Joseph Weinberger called.

Ospina rolled over the {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Weinberger sigh-mucked {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{x-} face up.

With that pot, Ospina has moved to a big stack and has become one of the current chip leaders in the penultimate level of the night.

Benson and Marsters Clash

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Stud

Timothy Marsters: {x-}{x-} / {8-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} / {x-}
Gary Benson: {x-}{x-} / {7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{a-Spades} / {x-}
Shawn Buchanan: {x-}{x-} / {9-Spades}{2-Clubs}{10-Clubs} fold

Tim Marsters bet fifth with his pair of nines and Gary Benson called with a pair of sevens showing, while Shawn Buchanan got out of the way. On sixth, Marsters check-called a bet and check-raised seventh. When Benson tossed in chips, Marsters already exposed his {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and then realized that Benson had made it three bets.

"Oh shit. I call, guess I gonna lose this one," Marsters predicted and sure enough Benson rolled over {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} for aces full.
