After four Day 1s in Event #3: BIG 50 - $500 No-Limit Hold'em which resulted in a record-setting 28,371 entries, yesterday's Day 3 of this phenomenal event saw that number drop from 1,597 starters to just 127 remaining players. They've returned today to kick off the action in the Amazon Room from 11 a.m. and play down the final six players. It's going to be a very big day, but for established names or unfamiliar players looking to make their name?
As expected, the list of notables throughout the tournament was long, with many big names returning on Day 3. One of those notables, five-time bracelet winner Allen Cunningham, will be here on Day 4 and continuing his quest for bracelet number six. After starting the day with 500,000 in chips, Cunningham steadily chipped up throughout the day, and by the end of play had amassed over 20,000,000 chips.
Paul Lentz, a final-tablist from the first-ever Colossus, is still in the hunt, as is Jason Wheeler, who also crept above 20 million chips before the end of play last night. Venezuelan player Amer Torbey is the man to catch at present, however, with the Venezuelan building a 32,500,000-chip monster stack that will take some work to dismantle.
David Rasmussen (32,125,000), WSOP bracelet winner from 2018 Diogo Veiga (30,700,000), Andrei Konopelko (30,200,000) are all in hot pursuit. Three ladies, Janet Andersen, Kathalyn Holz and Saya Ono, the chipleader at the end of Day 2c, will also be returning today. A fourth lady, Kathy McKay, was eliminated during the last level of play on Day 3.
Play resumes at 11.00 a.m. local time in the Amazon Room, and the PokerNews team will be there to bring you all of the exciting action as it happens.
