Campbell Cracks Aces, Eliminates Two

Level 6 : 300/500, 500 ante

The under-the-gun player open-jammed for 4,100, John Hernandez three-bet jammed over the top for 23,600 from middle position and action folded around to Matt Campbell who four-bet all in for 51,000 from the cutoff, the remaining players folded.

John Hernandez: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
All In Player: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Matt Campbell: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

Campbell was behind but took a commanding lead after the {j-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{k-Clubs} flop.

Both Hernandez and the under the gun player picked up Broadway draws but it didn't come on the {4-Diamonds} turn.

Campbell needed to dodge any ace or ten and he did just that as the river came the {7-Hearts} and he eliminated both opponents.

Kings Good for March on Scary Board

Level 6 : 300/500, 500 ante

Tony March had raised to 8,500 pre-flop and got one caller.

The pair checked both the {7-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop and the {7-Diamonds} turn.

His opponent bet 7,000 on the {a-Spades} river and March snap-called with {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}, beating the {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} of his opponent.

"Should have just checked!" said his opponent as March chipped up.

Ditter Doubles

Level 6 : 300/500, 500 ante

On a {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts} board a player in the cutoff bet 10,000 and James Ditter raised all in for 32,900 from the button. His opponent didn't look too pleased but called from a stack of 35,000.

James Ditter: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and the river the {9-Hearts} as Ditter's tens held to double up and leave his opponent with just 2,000 behind.

Festa Flops Set, Rivers Quads to Eliminate Opponent

Level 6 : 300/500, 500 ante

Mattia Festa opened for 800 from early position and had four callers headed to the flop.

The flop came {9-}{k-}{2-} and Festa fired out 3,000. His opponent sitting directly on his left called along with the big blind player.

Festa continued with a 5,000 bet on the {q-} turn and the opponent to his left jammed for his remaining stack. The big blind folded and Festa snapped him off.

Mattia Festa: {2-}{2-}
Opponent: {9-}{9-}

Festa was far behind the flopped set of nines by his opponent until the dealer peeled off a {2-} on the river giving him quad two's to eliminate his opponent.

Baumann an Early Notable

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Gaelle Baumann
Gaelle Baumann

With almost five full levels played here on Day 1a, the big names are slowly trickling into the Colossus field.

One of the latest we've spotted is French player Gaelle Baumann. With over a $1m in lifetime earnings - $700k of which came at the WSOP - she is perhaps most famous for her tenth place finish in the 2012 WSOP Main Event.

Baumann cashed five times at the 2018 WSOP, but it was a hand against Vanessa Selbst in the Main Event that attracted the most headlines, hitting a one outer to bust Selbst in Level 1!
