Kevin Erickson Eliminated in 13th Place ($6,748)

Level 17 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Kevin Erickson
Kevin Erickson

On the first hand, the flop read {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Tu Dao checked before calling a bet from Kevin Erickson. The turn fell a {k-Hearts} and this time Dao check-raised. Erickson tanked for a minute and called.

The river showed a {k-Spades} and Erickson led out with a bet. Dao called, revealing {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for ace-high and took down the pot as Erickson tabled {a-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for a lower kicker. Erickson was left with only 15,000 after that hand.

The hand after, Joshua Griffith raised under the gun and Erickson pushed his last chips in the middle from the small blind to call and the players tabled their cards:

Kevin Erickson: {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Joshua Griffith: {k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

"I have a diamond!" said Griffith jokingly. "Oh you have a diamond, but I have a heart!" replied Erickson, which made the table laugh.

Erickson had the best starting hand but the board brought {3-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{k-Spades}, giving trips to Griffith to eliminate Erickson in 13th place.

Alwani on a "Heater"

Level 17 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Rehan Alwani
Rehan Alwani

Rehan Alwani keeps winning pots and is in a much better spot now. The latest chips were thanks to a pot he won against Kevin Erickson. Alwani called 8,000 and Tao Du raised it up to 16,000. Kevin Erikson was in the small blind and he raised again, making it 32,000 to go. Both opponents called and they were three-handed as {j-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} landed on the flop.

Erickson lead for 8,000 and Alwani called but Dao passed. The {3-Clubs} turn saw another bet and Alwani called for 16,000. The river was a {5-Diamonds} and Alwani called another 16,000 and turned over {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for top pair, which had Erickson's {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} beat.

The very next hand Alwani got to showdown for a smaller pot with pocket-aces to scoop yet again. "Heater!" quipped Dao as he collected another pot.

Alwani Back From the Dead

Level 17 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Rehan Alwani was in very bad shape at the start of the hand and he got the last of it in with {k-Clubs}{4-Hearts} after raising preflop. The board was {2-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and with one bet left and put his chips in. He was called by Joshua Griffith who had flopped top pair with {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. The {5-Clubs} turn gave Alwani straight outs and the {k-Clubs} on the river gave him a pair of kings.
