Wheel Vaults Yoon Up the Counts

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Brian Yoon
Brian Yoon

Tyler Gaston raised from the button, the player in the small blind called and Brian Yoon called from the big blind.

The flop was {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and action checked to Gaston who continued. The small blind folded, Yoon check-raised and Gaston called.

The turn was the {4-Clubs}, Yoon bet and Gaston called.

With roughly 150,000 in the pot at this point, the river was the {10-Spades}. Yoon bet 110,000 and Gaston called after a few moments.

Yoon tabled {3-Spades}{2-Spades} for a wheel, Gaston mucked and Yoon won the hefty pot.

Stout Boats the River to Double

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Matt Stout
Matt Stout

With roughly 13,000 in the middle already, the flop was {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Stout had gotten all of his 60,000 chips into the pot.

Matt Stout: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

Stout had flopped top set but was in trouble against his opponents' already made flush. The turn was no help when the {k-Spades} hit but the river was the {9-Spades} giving Stout queens full of nines to double up and stay in the tournament.

Borg Runs Into Aces

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Ronni Borg
Ronni Borg

Ronni Borg claimed to be unlucky whenever the PokerNews live reporting team is around and wanted to prove a point.

Maximilian Schierl opened to 3,600 from the button and Borg defended his big blind even though he said he shouldn't.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{3-Spades}, Borg checked and Schierl continued with a bet of 4,400. Borg responded with a raise to 14,300 and Schierl asked for a confirmation of the amount before making the call.

They then both checked through the {2-Hearts} on the turn and the {7-Hearts} on the river. Schierl laughed and showed {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} so Borg could quickly muck his cards.

"You see!!!" Borg said while shaking his head but still smiling. The rest of the table laughed and Schierl asked if the live reporting team could stick around and sit down at the table too. He even showed he had snacks and candy too for sustenance.

Patrick Serda
Patrick Serda

After another two hours on the felt, the players are heading on another 20-minute break mid-way through level eight. They will return to the blinds at 600/1,200 with a 1,200 big blind ante for another hour. Here is what took place in the past two hours on Day 2ab:

Pratt Scoops with Aces

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Denise Pratt
Denise Pratt

There was a raise to 2,600 from middle position and Denise Pratt just called on the button. Calvin Lee was in the small blind and shipped all in for 46,000. The action was back on the initial raiser who asked for a count before folding. Pratt instantly flicked in a chip to call and the cards were face up.

Denise Pratt: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Calvin Lee: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Pratt remained in a dominating position with her pocket aces. The {8-Spades} on the turn left Lee drawing dead to the {10-Clubs} on the river and Pratt scooped the pot.

Stout Eliminates Grace

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Matt Stout
Matt Stout

Matt Stout raised in middle position to 2,300 and the action folded around to Erin Grace in the big blind who shoved all-in for 8,100.

Stout said, "Looks like I am going to have to double you up." as he called.

Matt Stout: {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Erin Grace: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Stout was dominated before the flop but the dealer fanned a flop of {7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} giving him top pair and Grace was going to need to catch a king to stay alive, unfortunately for her the turn was the {9-Spades} and the river improved Stout's hand when the {7-Spades} landed on the river, giving him trip sevens.

Johnson Holds for a Huge Double Up

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Chris Johnson
Chris Johnson

Aditya Systla raised it up from middle position and was called by Clayton Kalisek in the hijack and Chris Johnson in the big blind. The dealer spread the flop of {k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} which started a flurry of action.

Johnson checked to Systla who continued for 4,500. Kalisek called and Johnson check-raised to 20,000. Systla thought for a minute before sticking in a re-raise to 50,000. Kalisek frustratingly folded {x-Hearts}{9-Hearts} which he showed to half of the table before Johnson moved all in for 83,100. Systla quickly called and the cards were tabled.

Chris Johnson: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Aditya Systla: {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

Systla was unaware that two of his outs were already mucked. The {q-Spades} landed on the turn and the {k-Diamonds} paired the board on the river. Johnson improved to a full house to score a big double up through Systla.
